CMAT Counselling 2023: Important Points
CMAT Counselling 2023 varies for every college that accepts CMAT Scores. After the cut off is released for CMAT, each individual college releases the procedure to register for CMAT counselling based on CMAT 2023 scores.
- Based on CMAT cut off, narrow down the colleges that you can apply for.
- Make your preference list of colleges based on the research about the college and reviews given by students and alumni.
- Candidates must first apply separately on the official website of the respective colleges for being eligible for CMAT admission process.
- Some colleges may have personal interviews and group discussions, some colleges might accept admissions based on merit list alone and some colleges may carry out admission based on the candidate's CMAT Scores and Merit List.
CMAT Counselling Process 2023
The CMAT Counselling Process will likely begin in May 2023. Given below are the three stages in the counselling process.
- Stage 1: Release of CMAT Scores
- Stage 2: Release of CMAT Cut Off
- Stage 3: Group Discussion
- Stage 4: Written Ability Test or Personal Interview
- Stage 5: CMAT Final Selection
Release of CMAT Result
The authorities will declare the results of CMAT 2023 tentatively in April 2023. The results will be declared in the form of a scorecard. Based on the scores, the candidates will be shortlisted for further rounds. Each institute has its own selection procedure and admission policy. The shortlisted students will need to appear for the further selection rounds on the said date.
CMAT Counselling Cut Off
CMAT Counselling process begins after the participating colleges announce their respective CMAT Cut Off. The counselling process is usually different for every college as each follows its individual process of selection. Candidates must register for the respective colleges as per their CMAT Cut off. The Cut off is higher for colleges that offer better education, and for most excellent colleges the general cut off range is above 80.
CMAT Cut Off is affected by the following factors:
- The difficulty level of CMAT 2023
- Number of students appearing for CMAT 2023
- Number of seats vacant in CMAT Participating Colleges
- Number of candidates clearing CMAT 2023 Cut Off
- Reservations - The reservations are 15%, 7.5%, 27%, 5% and 50.5% for SC, ST, OBC(NC), PwD and Gen respectively
Group Discussion Round
- The shortlisted students will be given a topic for Group Discussion. The topic would be related to current affairs or business situations.
- Next, groups of about 10 students or more will be made and topics will be assigned for discussion.
- Each student will be marked based on negotiation skills, encouragement skills, creative and logical thinking, real-life scenarios, closure skills, leadership quality, managerial skills, and initiation skills.
Written Ability Test or Personal Interview
The students who qualify for the group discussion round will be called for either a written ability test or a personal interview. Some institutes may even conduct both.
- During the interview process, the students will be asked questions related to their personality, academic records, prior work experience, and many more things.
- The interviewee will score the candidates based on their capability to handle pressure.
- The written ability test will be conducted by the authorities to check the writing skills of the candidates.
- To excel in the above-mentioned rounds, the students are advised to develop a habit of reading newspapers.
CMAT Final Selection
CMAT Final Selection is done on the basis of several factors such as Merit List, CMAT Cut Off, Number of Vacancies, performance in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview, reservations, and so on. The decision is made by the college and management based on various criteria defined by the college. Selected candidates will be required to come for document submission and verification. They will have to confirm their admission by booking their seat and paying the admission fee.
