Master of Science [M.S] (Econometrics)

Econometrics is a two-year master's program jointly offered by the TU Dortmund University, Ruhr University of Bochum, and the University of Duisburg-Essen. The program is aimed at quantitatively oriented students who hold a BSc in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related disciplines. Econometric methods are increasingly gaining importance in research, business and the public sector. Students of Econometrics are capable of using mathematical models to quantitatively describe and analyze problems that arise in companies, research, government, financial institutions, and other organizations. They have an extensive understanding of statistical methods and an in-depth knowledge of central economic causal relationships and the resulting econometric questions.

Tuition Fees
There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the winter semester 2021 amounts to a total of $387.43.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $253.41, of which $183.94 for the VRR semester ticket and $69.47for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $114.98
- Student body fee: $19.04.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- The program is aimed at graduates who hold a BSc or equivalent degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline. At least 15 ECTS in both Economics and Mathematics/Statistics are required.
- While core modules and many electives are taught in English, students have the opportunity to attend selected German-language courses.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following requirements:

A certificate documenting an English language proficiency on at least the level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. One of the following is sufficient:

The school diploma qualifying a student for university from a school within the purview of German Basic Law ("Abitur")

Candidates must provide evidence of sufficient knowledge of English (at least level B2).
International students hailing from non-English speaking countries can prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
