Mrs S Rudhra is an Assistant Professor of the Jerusalem College Of Engineering, Chennai. She did B.E Electrical Electronics Engineering, from Annamalai University. Also, completed M.E. in Power System Engineering, Annamalai University. She has a total teaching experience of 12 years.

Being a Faculty of the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To address academic activities/issues, alumni coordination, and improve students skills are my primary duties”

My duty is to monitor academic aspects of the Students, improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students for their learning. As a class incharge, I must address both academic or performance related issues of students of the assigned class. It ensures the syllabus completion of all subjects before the final examination. I need to take care of the academic performance of the allotted students and their regularity in class. Also, I communicate with alums and leading alumni related programs.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty in Jerusalem College Of Engineering?

“Support friendly work, interests and motivate students to achieve their dreams”

We maintain effective communication with students and spend time with them, especially those who struggle with behavioral issues. Our faculties motivates them to achieve excellence in all activities as well as to make interest in improving their skill sets. Trust is a fundamental step in building strong relationships with others by the faculties. We always trust and respect colleagues.

Supporting friends work when they need help and also care about their interests.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

“Enhance practical knowledge, industrial visits and implant training for pupils”

We arrange Industrial visits and Inplant training for students. They get hands-on experience to enhance their practical knowledge. We tell lots of small stories related to subjects for easy understanding.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

“Guest lectures, ICT enabled tools, and workshops for pupils”

ICT enabled tools and Technical Quiz competitions are provided to pupils. They get Guest Lectures and Workshops from our campus. 

How do you strategize the curriculum and get updated to make it befitting for the students?

“Update curriculum as per technology changes in the industry”

We make use of technology to design the curriculum. Add a perfect set of in-class projects and assignments given to students. Our curriculum is updated once every 4 years.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from Jerusalem College Of Engineering?

“Provide technical skills, placements and communicative English for pupils”

Train the students towards placement from second year onwards in the form of aptitude, soft skills, technical Skills and fluency in communicative English. We motivate students towards exams such as GATE, etc from campus. 

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

“Support pupils to compete in the outside world through several programs, and technical skills”

We encourage the students to learn, perform and compete in their own way. They must work on technical skills and other programs to cope up with the outside world. 

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

“Several clubs provide different programs on campus for students”

We conduct extra-curricular and co-curricular activities frequently through department club such as an Electronics club and organize symposiums. Techfest helps to showcase their talents on campus. 

What are the challenges you faced to uplift the quality of education of campus?

“To create complicated subjects is a greatest challenge for us”

We face difficulty in creating interest in tough and complicated subjects for students. After the pandemic, interest in the studies of students became less interesting. 

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

“To provide a comfortable environment and facilities for pupils”

My vision is simple. I want the best for my students. My vision is to provide an environment in which they can feel comfortable while they learn.

How does the curriculum of college ensure the best practice of the industry?

“Accept feedback from industry experts and frame curriculum”

We frame the curriculum and syllabus with a feedback from the industry experts on the changes in the industry. It will be carefully reviewed by the board of studies and approved by an expert panel of the Academic Council.

How does the college enhance the skills of the faculty and prepares them according to the industry standards?

“Provide FDPs, seminars and encourage publishing papers in international or national journals” 

We encourage to attend Faculty development programs, and seminars in recent trends of their respective field. They can publish paper in national and international journals such as scopus index, and web of science etc

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train the students?

“Seminars, industrial visits, and guest lectures for students are provided from campus”

We are conducting hands-on training ,guest lectures and seminars on recent topics. Our faculties can attend industrial visits and other training.

What do you see as the college’s greatest strengths and how can it be enhanced?

“Team work, faculties and friendly approach are our greatest strengths”

Faculty Retention, and Teamwork are our greatest strengths. We always maintain a friendly approach from our campus.
