Shankara Group of Institutions

Being the Chairman, how would you describe your leadership style?

“Strong associations with academicians and administrative staff”

To ensure quality education, I should give maximum personal involvement, like having a connection with administrative staff and academicians, which will give much more visibility. I believe in personal involvement, and people from top to bottom positions are well connected with me. I am readily available whenever they need any support or have any requirements. I strive to fulfill their requirements immediately. It gives a lot of benefits to run the institution smoothly.

How do you strategize the key plans for the marketing of your institution?

“Good interactions, participations and media visibility”

Firstly, we believe in having a good connection with our alumni and interaction with the parents. The second is the media visibility. And the third is making the Shankara Group of Institutions platform available to students from different parts of the country or different parts of the world. We get good media coverage as many dignitaries attend our events. We offer awards in cash and kind to attract student participation. National and international dignitaries present awards to the students, which is a huge encouragement to the students. Through media, Alumni, Parents, and offering the students a platform, we bring fame to the Shankara Group.

How do you prepare the students to outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

“Mentoring and enrichment with quality education”

When new students join Shankara, I convey to them that they will surely benefit if they think of others as well. Best infrastructure like labs, library, and accommodation are required to provide quality education. Shankara Group is known for excellent infrastructure and students derive benefit out of these facilities. Some faculty are available 24X7 on campus to take care of the students in Hostels. We believe that if we give quality education, we are certainly making good citizens of the nation. And students will be in a position to earn money. They can enjoy their life, help others and contribute to the nation and world as well. Also, every year we organize national-level programs, academic, sports and cultural competitions, where our students get an opportunity to interact with others. When they face tough competition, they'll analyze where they are lacking and work hard on improving in those areas.

How do you tend to build an industry connection with different programs at SIT?

“Alliance and interaction with industry and corporate”

We have interlinked with the corporate and industrialists. Our products are required in the industry, and we require our students to benefit from this relationship. Students go for industrial training for exposure and also work in those companies after passing out. Training and Placement Office (TPO) constantly interact with the companies to know the requirements and build the required skills set among students. This way we derive mutual benefit for students and the companies.

How did you manage the impact of the COVID pandemic on curriculum at SIT?

“Online mode of education and international integrations”

Physical presence is required for quality education. But during the pandemic, we needed alternatives. So, we have facilitated online education. We have arranged various international webinars as well. Shankara Group has collaborations with the universities in European Union (EU). Our faculty and students benefit from student exchange programs. At the same time, faculties are also visiting the European countries under the exchange program. Many international faculties also taught our students in an online mode. Many students benefited from this program, and students were selected for higher education in these European countries. Online was the best option in the ongoing situation, and we have taken care of the academic sessions, and students could know what other universities are doing. Due to globalization, we are closely linked with each other, and our students benefit from this.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on at SIT?

“Different industrial and health care projects”

We get projects from hospitals when they have equipment requirements. We are working on projects from agricultural institutes as well. Different departments like mechanical, electrical engineering get projects from industries like automobiles. New students are trained as part of the ongoing projects every year. In collaboration with Rajasthan Technical University, we organize a hackathon every year, where participants are given real-life problems of Banks, Industries, etc. The government of India funds the selected ideas. We have successfully organized the event this year as well despite the pandemic.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

“Students should gain knowledge, and not the syllabus”

Education should not be based only on the syllabus, which can only get a degree. You have to be multifarious to have a successful career. You need to focus on extracurricular activities, be a good citizen, and the nature of helping others. When you help someone, you will reciprocate the same. In technical education, theory alone is not sufficient. Without practical knowledge, one cannot compete in the industry.
