The journey from a student to becoming a teacher himself

I have about 25 years of experience in the education industry. I started off my career as a Junior lecturer then became an assistant professor & currently I’m the HOD for the department of EEE in West Godavari Institute of Science And Engineering. I have developed a passion for teaching by getting inspired by my teachers when I was in school. I didn’t look back after that.

The major challenge faced by the HoD

The biggest challenge is to get the students, as well as the processes, streamlined.

The curriculum ensures to cope up with the Industry expectations

Our curriculum involves various workshops & projects. This helps students in understanding the industry expectations.

For the development of EEE department, there must be a development in students

  1. I would like to maintain a minimum of 80% average aggregate from students of EEE.
  2. I would like to organize industrial tours for giving the students industrial exposure.

Steps taken to ensure qualitative education

I ensure the class work is not disturbed and library access is given to students for their reference. Students are given assignments at the end of every unit to get an idea of their subject knowledge.

Building an ideal school culture or climate

We organize events in which students get to interact among themselves and also with the faculty helping us to build a better school culture.

Having an interaction with the students

At the end of my class, I interact with the students & try to solve their issues.

Encouraging students to get them involved in research

I encourage students by providing facilities to them for pursuing research with regard to the innovative ideas they bring to me.

Things which are important for being a good leader

I don’t encourage recommendations & try to be as transparent as possible. In my view, these are very important to be a leader.

A piece of advice for the aspiring students

Set goals and try to pursue them no matter what.
