What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“My philosophy of leadership is to work with people and for the people”

My role is to facilitate and motivate team members. I am responsible to solve their problems no matter what it is. In my opinion, a leader is a facilitator and every leader should think the same. A leader must appreciate his colleagues for their successful ventures and take responsibility if they face any failure.

How has Covid 19 impacted your university?

“The major changes will reflect in the end results”

Under these pandemic conditions, the whole world is facing unanticipated challenges. At MUJ, physical attendance of students is still prohibited and will remain so till further government orders. The academic activities are going online, and students are attending online classes and other events like seminars, webinars workshops, technical training sessions, etc. Use of technology will enable the free exchange of ideas on the use of technology to enhance learning, assessment, planning, administration and so on, both for school and higher education. Online and digital education will ensure an alternative mode of quality education in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.

How do you plan for the marketing and administration of your university?

“Regular meets provide a thoughtful balance of putting together the statutory requirements”

The key programs we organize at MUJ are the annual retreat and curriculum conclave. The annual retreat program is the employee engagement conducted for visioning exercise and also to set a road map every year towards achieving the long-term goal of the university. The retreat helps the leadership teams to ideate on organization planning, reconnect and realign for better cohesion, communication, and innovation. In the curriculum conclave all internal stakeholders i.e. departments, faculty members, students participate and contribute with enthusiasm. External stakeholders like academic leaders, policymakers, industry experts and alumni come together and provide valuable inputs and ideas in academic endeavours. A roadmap for futuristic and visionary ‘Dream Curriculum’ gets formulated in the conclave.

So, here we need to focus on industry demand and skilled students. How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your institute?

“I believe there must be very less perimeter between staff and a leader”

We at MU tend to establish a healthy relation and environment institute by adopting a policy of transparency. There must be two-way communication rather one-way. I must add that transparency and ethics are the hallmark of Manipal University Jaipur’s academic and administrative philosophy, which emulate the inspiration from its founding fathers.
