With the motto of empowering minds through quality education, JIS University was established through the Legislative Act of the Government of West Bengal, viz. JIS University Act, 2014 (West Bengal Act XXII of 2014), in the year 2015. In a very short time, JIS University has achieved many milestones both nationally and internationally. The University started with a mission to become one of the top institutes in India and a preferred destination for students, research scholars and faculty members alike. Industry oriented Curicullum

We, at JIS University, have been constantly evolving our teaching-learning process to keep up with the demands of a technology-driven era. A judicious blend of the conventional methods of teaching and the recent trends in ICT-based education is being followed in the course curicullum. The University offers a wide array of new-age courses in various branches and specialized fields of Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Allied Sciences, Law, Education, Management, Hospitality & Hotel Administration, Agricultural Science, and many more. The University is offering several UG and PG courses in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Geology, Remote Sensing & GIS, etc. New specializations in AI & Machine Learning, Cyber Security, and Embedded Systems & Robotics are being offered from this session under the B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering programme.

The University runs vibrant PhD programmes in various disciplines as well, with facilities for fellowships for deserving candidates. Students are offered foreign language courses, exposed to training in human values and ethical practices for holistic growth, and also motivated towards entrepreneurial activities. Quality Learning with Practical Exposure

Sincerely committed to providing high-quality academic knowledge and practical training to students, the University strictly adheres to merit-based criteria for admissions. For admission to the UG and PG courses offered in various disciplines, students have to qualify in the JIS University Entrance Test (JET-2021). This year the examination will be conducted in ONLINE mode owing to the pandemic situation and can be taken by students from anywhere in India and also abroad. With prior registration, this online examination can also be given by physically reporting at the University campus at Agarpara, Kolkata as per pre-defined time slots. For the benefit of the students, the University has decided to conduct online examinations every month on alternate Saturdays between 11 am to 1 pm. Students can apply online through the JIS University website by clicking “Apply Now” under the “Admission Menu” on the home page, or by clicking the “Application for Admission 2021 - Apply Now” option at the bottom left side of the home page.
