What is your leadership philosophy?

“Leaders create the right environment and lead a team”

One of the best descriptions of leadership has been given by Simon Sinek. He says Leadership is a responsibility. It is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those who are in your charge. We sincerely believe in this. A leader must create the right environment. People can bloom, ideas can thrive and magic happens in that area. This is where teams are formed and individual human beings figure to achieve excellence. We have numerous examples amongst our team members and students where such excellence has been achieved. My leadership style is a mix of Participative and Transformational on most occasions. It modifies at times based on applicability in a situation.

What makes the education industry best to work in?

“Growth opportunities in the education sector”

There are huge growth opportunities in the Education Sector. India is one of the largest networks of higher education in the world. Around 26.3% of our population is in the age group 0-14 years. But there is still huge potential for further development. We can be pioneers in that effort. Education always deals with the future of an individual. Every single participant in the education industry is directly or indirectly affecting our future. Hence, education is the best industry to work in.

What is your opinion on the National Education Policy 2020?

“Universal access at all levels of schooling and promotion of Higher Education”

India’s elevation to become a Global Knowledge Superpower sees through the National Education Policy. I list here some of my favorite takeaways. The first one is Universal access at all levels of schooling from pre-primary to Grade 12. Moreover, rigid silos existed before between arts and sciences, vocational and academic streams; and extracurricular activities. The first time the focus would be on TALENT rather than marks and grades. The second one is easier for students to be part of World Class Institutions and professional Education to get needed help. Finally, teacher education becomes streamlined and promotes Higher Education.

How did the COVID-19 hit the education industry?

“Shift of classes from offline to an online platform and virtual meetings”

COVID-19 left an indelible mark on all industries. The lockdown period led to closing the doors of educational institutes. Classes shifted to the online mode which gave rise to various small and big platforms and apps. Moreover, virtual class management and meetings are active. Platforms over these months develop into user-friendly modules of choice. On one hand, students and teachers could communicate and exchange knowledge at any time from any place. On the other hand, physical discipline took a back seat. Online exams had an impact. The government allowed physical entry of students into educational institutions from this month. Hence, routines will again change and equations will have to be reset.

What is the top priority of the NSHM knowledge campus for the next 3 years?

“Focus on Entrepreneurship, Incubation, Corporate Linkages, Social Action, Creativity and Innovation”

Our primary focus is on entrepreneurship and incubation and other areas are like Corporate Linkages, Social Action, Creativity, Innovation, Research, and Hard-Core Academics. We decide on the creation of Centers of Excellence and move towards Autonomy and the establishment of a University. Hence, it leads to overall leadership in the education space.

What is your view on the importance of human resource support on campus?

“Provides this mature environment of putting people first”

HR support is the essence of campus. I would go to the extent of saying that HR philosophy in an organization can make or break its foundations. Technology and Systems Infrastructure are dependent upon the User. It is always thinking, feeling, emotional, flesh and blood Human Being. True HR support provides this mature environment of putting people first. Hence, people give everything they have to help the organization grow. We are committed to this philosophy and trust people. We believe that if rules are ever broken people break them for organizational benefit.
