Mrs. Prachi Agrawal is designated as the Director of Jindal School of Hotel Management, Vadodara. The dynamic and energetic facilitator believes in working with the cultures of her clients with a positive attitude. She has a background in psychology and Swiss training in education administration.

In an exclusive interview with collegedunia.com, Mrs. Agarwal talks about the Hotel Management industry in India and guides aspirants on how to choose the best institute to set a career in the industry.

Mrs. Agrawal on the scope for a Hotel Management graduate

Hotel management has wide employment opportunities. With globalization and hotel chain owners opening new hotels in various big and small cities, the requirement for trained hotel management professionals is huge. Although considered one of the most glamorous careers, hotel management requires professionals who can keep their cool even in the most challenging situations.

As per a report by ICRA, revenue growth in the hospitality industry of India is expected to improve by 6% to 7% in the year 2018-19. “Clean India,” “Make in India” and “Smart City” programs by Government of India are going to boost Indian hospitality industry growth equally. With the increase in foreign investment from countries like China, Japan, and the United States will increase business-related travel to India.

Required characteristics that a hotel management aspirant must possess

In order to succeed in Hotel Management, one must enjoy working with people. Jindal School of Hotel Management (JSHM) gives preference to creative candidates who have a pleasing personality, and like meeting new people. This industry is very demanding on one’s time, and thus candidates choosing this line must be willing to put in long hours.

The minimum selection criteria for an undergraduate course in hotel management is 10+2 with 50% marks. However, candidates who do not have 50% marks in +2 can be considered if they are extroverts in nature and perform well during our interview.

Job Prospects and packets for Hotel Management graduates

Hotel management, like any other sector, is subject to the state of the market economy. When the economy is doing well, jobs are aplenty in the industry. Currently, more than 2.60 million people are working in a hotel, catering and allied industry in India and the number is going to increase in the coming years as new hotels are coming up in large numbers in urban and semi-urban areas. Trained hotel management professionals would have privilege over untrained graduates.

Mrs. Agrawal on how to select a good hotel Management college

Since the students end up spending more hours doing practical than studying theory, the equipment and quality of the laboratories will be a significant factor to rank the hospitality school.

It is said that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The reputation of the school, course content, and quality teaching staff are of no use if the alumni of the college do not end up with successful careers. It will be wise to keep this in mind & speak to a few ex-students from the hotel management institute before deciding to enroll there.

Mrs. Agrawal on recommending JSHM for budding Hotel management professionals

Jindal School of Hotel Management offers a unique experience to aspiring hospitality professionals through its international course content and various study tours. Students get a dual certification (from national & international bodies), and there is also an option to pursue the third year of specialization in Switzerland.

The college is supported by our parent company, Jindal Hotels Limited. This association and the fact that we provide a Wi-Fi enabled air-conditioned campus, provides our students with an ambient learning environment. JSHM has maintained a 100% placement record since its inception in 2005. A vast majority of our students are working internationally.

I believe that for a student to develop to their fullest potential, a stable learning environment of assisted learning, academic challenges, comfortable learning atmosphere, and able, willing guides are a must. At JSHM, we provide just that.
