What should I opt for, VSSUT Burla mechanical or NIT Rourkela for food processing?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : October 12th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

The choice between VSSUT Burla Mechanical and NIT Rourkela Food Processing depends on whether you are a fresher or a dropper and your plans.

  • Mechanical at VSSUT is the best option if you are a dropper because in your case the branch matters.
  • However, if you are a fresher and are certain that you can perform better in the entrance exam next year, forgo both options.
  • But if you are just willing to get a BTech degree and are planning to pursue higher education in Management, then NIT will be better because it has better coaching institutes and environment. Also, the infrastructure is far better than VSSUT.
  • If you are willing to clear GATE then choose a core branch like mechanical at VSSUT is better.
  • If you want to get employed somehow, then mechanical engineering has a great scope in most industries.

Ultimately consider your interests and future goals for the decision.

What is the current scenario of M.Tech placement in NIT Agartala for the mechanical branch?

SG
Sugandhi Garg Posted On : September 20th, 2023
Studied Computer Science at National Institute of Technology, Agartala

M.Tech Mechanical from NIT Agartala is a decent choice. After this course, you can become a researcher or join the workforce.

The faculty for Mechanical is quite supportive, and there is almost no pressure from their side. You’ll have to depend on self-study, but the freedom is unmatched. The lab facility isn’t top-notch, so students collaborate with other colleges for research work.

Data is not available for branch-wise placements. But overall, last year, out of 161 graduating M.Tech students, 106 were placed at a median package of INR 6.50 LPA.

What is your review of mechanical engineering in NIT Jalandhar?

SJ
Samyak Jain Posted On : December 7th, 2022
B.tech from Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IITRPR) (Expected 2025)

Mechanical Engineering at NIT Jalandhar is not for non-interested students. It’s one of the most feared branches at NIT Jalandhar. But it has a lot of pros that weigh out its cons.

Pros:

  • Good placement opportunities

  • Decent exposure

  • Well equipped labs

  • Experienced faculty

  • They prepare you for the hardships unlike other branches

The only major drawback is its very strict faculty. The marking pattern is also very rigid. The level of difficulty is higher than that of JEE Advance. But in the long run, this drawback actually becomes a blessing in disguise. You actually gain a lot of knowledge and opportunities to improve yourself as a whole.

How is the mechanical department at Haldia Institute of Technology, and what about placement?

GB
Gaurav Batra Posted On : September 29th, 2021
B.Tech Production and Industrial Engineering,Haldia Institute of Technology (2020)

Haldia Institute of Technology is the first private engineering college for Mechanical Engineering. It is considered as one of the best 10 branches in the institute.

Nowadays, HIT is not offering good teaching methods in mechanical engineering due to a lack of good faculty members. The lab facilities are very good and well-equipped with the latest technologies like IC Engine, Thermal, Production, Manufacturing, Mechanism, Metrology, and welding labs.

One of the main factors here is the placement records. The placement for the core branches is not that good. Only a few percent of the students get packages above 11 LPA. The majority of the students end up with packages near about 5 to 7 lakhs per annum. The remaining students receive packages up to 3 lakhs per annum.

Recent placement status: -

  • 10 LPA or more - 6 students (HPL)
  • 8 to 10 LPA - 11 students (Infosys, Wipro)
  • 5 to 7 LPA - 23 students (Topcem)
  • 3 to 5 LPA - 79 students

The preparation for GATE is the best part as students get a lot of time and help from the institute.

Which is better for mechanical: DTU or IIT (ISM) Dhanbad?

MA
Muskan Anand Posted On : January 5th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad (2018)

You should choose the college closer to your home. Both the colleges DTU and IIT Dhanbad are Tier-1 engineering colleges in India.

Degree Outcome:

  • Most of the students from these popular Indian colleges practice coding irrespective of their branch and become Computer engineers depending on their skills.
  • The companies visiting for placements do not give much importance to the academic credentials of the candidate as they are only concerned about the TopCoder and GitHub profiles in the applicant’s resume. The salary packages offered by these companies range between 5-50 LPA (depending on the skill of the applicant).
  • Many students also become managers in various industries based on their hard work, luck, and personal learning. The companies mainly focus on the previous academic credential of the candidate. The salary packages offered for managerial positions to the students is between 5-15 LPA.

Given below is an overview of both the colleges.

Category

DTU

IIT Dhanbad

Average CTC

INR 10 LPA

INR 11 LPA

Course Fee

7.8 lakhs

8.8 lakhs

The more well-grounded and genuine way to become a Mechanical or Automobile Engineer in India is to become proficient in the GATE/ IES ME curriculum and participate in some competitive exams to secure a job in the government sector.

Mechanical engineering is getting outdated and people are not getting in any good place in India by doing Mechanical engineering. This program is even getting shut in various developed countries. So, choose wisely.
