Which college is better for Aerospace Engineering, IIEST Shibpur or SRM University? (Considering everything - from Faculty to Placements)
IIEST Shibpur is a well-known institute in India. Although it has faced some challenges in recent years, it has been making progress. Aerospace Engineering is the newest department at IIEST, having been established in 2011 by branching out from the Mechanical Engineering Department. Despite being a small batch, the department has a lot of potential.
- When it comes to faculty, IIEST has an edge over SRM. The Mechanical Department, in particular, is considered one of the premier departments at IIEST.
- IIEST also has better laboratory and infrastructure facilities than SRM, which is important for students pursuing engineering degrees.
- In terms of placements, both IIEST and SRM are not doing great. IIEST has the excuse of being a new player in the game, while SRM has had the department for a long time. However, IIEST does have slightly better placements than SRM.

IIT Bhubaneswar does not put any such age restrictions over faculty recruitment. Only for the post of Assistant Professor, the applicant must be below 35 years of age. The faculty is recruited mainly on the basis of education and experience. Having a bright extra-curricular experience, and other achievements can be a bonus qualification.
The minimum qualification required in the latest faculty advertisement released by the institute was - Ph.D. in the preceding degree in appropriate branch with first class or equivalent. How is Chemical Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar in terms of course, faculty, packages and placements?
Chemical Engineering has a broad scope outside India but is yet to make its mark here. The field is not developed here yet, the demand is low and so is the pay. If you are genuinely interested in this field and want to pursue a career in the same, universities in the USA and Germany provide excellent opportunities. Infrastructure: IIT Gandhinagar is well known for its infrastructure and facilities. The new hostel has excellent accommodation facilities with 90 Mbps speed wifi. The food served in the mess is decent and there are also 4 canteens that have got a 5-star rating from FSSAI. Students are provided with 24/7 medical facilities.
Faculty: Sparing a few assistant professors, the faculty is mostly dedicated, passionate, and very learned. They provided constant assistance to the students.
Course: All the courses have the same syllabus in the first year. The semester exams are no joke and can be quite challenging at times. You will get some free time post classes so prepare well and get a good CPI. The institute follows a relative grading system so the passing marks vary from teacher to teacher.
Placements: Out of 27 registered students this year, 16 got placed bringing the placement percentage to 52.26%. IIT Gandhinagar's average package of Chemical Engineering stood at INR 14.82 LPA while the median package stood at INR 14 LPA.

It is well-equipped with cutting-edge technology and facilities. Core Electronics companies such as Texas Instruments, HCL, etc. visit the IIT Dhanbad placements. Non-core placements are also good. Amazon, Microsoft IDC, Adobe Systems, Goldman Sachs, etc. recruit ECE students too. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 12 - 15 LPA.
