For converting to a PGDIE course at NITIE, you definitely need to have a good profile. The admission procedure at NITIE is quite similar to that of IIMs. The weightage given to various parameters is as follows.

• 10th - 5%
• 12th - 5%
• Graduation - 10%
• GATE Score - 35%
• GD - 15%
• PI - 30%

Generally, you should be safe with a GATE rank >700. NITIE has released the GATE cutoff for 2021, which is as follows. 

Apart from this your performance in GD and interview will also be a determining factor. If you have work experience of more than 20 months, it can make your profile stand out. 

NITIE has given employment to several entrepreneurs. I know a little bit about the startup culture at the institute as my sister is an alumnus. I'm going to list a few recent startups where one or all of the founders are from NITIE.

1. FreeKaaMaal.com: It is a bargain-hunting website where you can find the most up-to-date discounts, coupons, and earn cashback from over 300+ e-commerce sites. Every day, it assists over 60,000 online shoppers in saving money. Mr. Ravi Kumar established the company in 2012.
2. Lal10.com: It is a one-stop shop for purchasing genuine Indian handicrafts. Handlooms, food goods, pickles, sweets, and handicrafts are examples of products from different parts of India. Maneet Gohil, the founder, and CEO of lal10.com is from batch 2015.
3. Quifers.com: It is a low-cost, hassle-free goods transportation service. Amit Mishra and Vaibhav Gupta are founders of Quifers.
4. Moboace- MOBOACE: It is a Mumbai-based company that uses the mobile platform to implement the fascinating notion of "location-based" marketing. In collaboration with clients, they provide appealing "ON THE GO'' deals to the customers. 
5. Kazunga.com- Kazunga.com: It is your one-stop shop for renting out all of your favorite items. Kazunga.com allows you to rent everything from party dresses and bridal gowns to intricate lehengas and Chaniya cholis for Dandiya. Kazunga.com was founded by Ankur Priyadarshan.
6. Seatrr: It is an online platform where you can find your favorite cuisine or dish in a city based on user reviews and ratings. 
7. Level 10 Studios: It is a firm that started with the intention of creating fiction and visual/sequential narrative. 

There are various other successful start-ups founded by the students of NITIE.

NITIE offers 5 postgraduate diploma courses. Admission to each course follows a specific selection process. My brother is a student at the institute so I can give you some insight regarding this.

In NITIE, only people from Engineering backgrounds are allowed to take admission. The following are the criteria for the same.

• Minimum 60% marks in 10th, 12th, and graduation for the general category (55% for backward castes).
• CAT percentile for PGDIM, PGDISEM: 97.5 for General category (drastically lower for backward castes).
• GATE cut-off for PGDIE, PGDMM and PGDPM – Varies from branch to branch.
• Work Experience – Students in their final year can also apply. If you have more than 5 years of work experience then choose executive courses like the one offered at Great Lakes or ISB.
• After these qualifying scores, you get a shortlist for the GD/ PI process.
• Weightage to your 10th, 12th, graduation scores, work experience, performance in GD/ PI to generate a final score.

The merit lists are created based on the final score. You will be selected if you are on the list.

After doing some research on the internet, I would say that NITIE, SJMSOM, and IIM-I have their own pros and cons. 

• Students with good academic records prefer to join IIM Indore rather than NITIE and SJMSOM. 
• But there will be more opportunities available during the summer placement in NITIE and SJMSOM. 
• In order to get a good placement in the final year, you must convert the opportunity into PPO/PPI.
• If you are more inclined towards marketing and finance then IIM Indore will be good for you, as it will provide better opportunities than NITIE and SJMSOM.
• If you are passionate about Supply chain and Operations then NITIE is the place to be.
• NITIE being in the financial capital of India offers a location advantage as compared to IIM Indore.

Therefore, choosing NITIE, SJMSOM or IIM Indore depends on you and in which field you want to make your career. It will be completely your decision, so play along your strengths.

NITIE has a total of 5 courses both for the students attempting for CAT and GATE. The courses for CAT students include PGDIM and PGDISEM whereas for the GATE students include PGDIE, PGDPM, PGDMM.

• Firstly, the students have been shortlisted according to their entrance exam scores be it CAT or GATE. 
• After that, once shortlisted, they are called for the campus round which is Group Discussion and Personal Interview. 
• Again, they are shortlisted based on the score attained in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview and the final list is prepared. 

The minimum eligibility for any student to be a part of the NITIE is to have a Bachelor of Engineering/Technology degree with at least 60% aggregate in any branch. For the SC/ST/PwD category, this aggregate of 60% goes down to 55%. There are a few seats that are reserved for the sponsored candidates. 

One of my friends appeared for the interview of the 2020-22 batch. The interview was online. The pattern was entirely new. The offline interview got canceled due to the Covid-19 situation. NITIE also cancelled the GD. 

Online Interview:

They received a set of 6 questions, on which they needed to prepare a talk for five to seven minutes. The questions were regarding the following.

• General Profile (Name, Academics, Background)
• Project related details
• Questions related to jobs. Freshers were asked to speak on selected problems from their discipline.
• Questions regarding extracurricular activities, i.e. any specific achievements, awards, conference presentations, etc.
• Why NITIE?
• What is your career goal?

Apart from these 6 questions, there was a surprise question on current affairs. The time allotted for the surprise question was two minutes. 

Platform:

The interview was a recorded session on the TALVIEW app/website. After you login with your credentials, the app promotes the first question. After 30 seconds the recording starts with a timer of 7 minutes. Once you submit your first answer, the second question comes on your screen and the answer is similarly recorded. They were given a time slot for recording the interview. 

According to my friend they were judged based on their presentation skills, body language, confidence, and presentation. My friend's interview was quite good and he converted.

I think I can give you an idea about the opportunities that you will receive at NITIE since a have a few friends who graduated from the institute. 

• NITIE Mumbai is a premier b-school under the Ministry of HRD in India. It is famously known as the “Mecca of Operations and Supply Chain Management” in India.
• The alumni base of NITIE is 50+ years old. They work as the lead in many companies across the globe.
• NITIE is located in the financial capital of the country, with many company headquarters within a radius of 10-15 km. Which is beneficial in terms of placements and exposure.
• The faculty members of the operation and supply chain management are of top-notch.
• You will get ample opportunities to take part in various case studies in the area of operations from the first month of the first year itself. In addition to this, you get an opportunity to work on weekend projects under many start-ups.
• Maha Mandi, which is a Socio-Marketing field event, is organized by NITIE every year to provide an experience of Sell in the streets of Mumbai to its students.

These are a few of the opportunities that you will get at NITIE. 

If your GATE score ranges up to 560, you have a chance to be called in for other upcoming rounds. However, the majority of it also depends upon your peers. If the exam is taken by more than 13 Lakh Engineers, and around 6 Lakh score around 550 or above. You can have an advantage of your quota.
