What are the pros and cons of MTech in CSE at IIIT Bangalore?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : October 7th, 2023

The iMTech in CSE is a highly regarded and unique program offered by IIIT Bangalore offering excellent exposure to its students. Here are the pros and cons of pursuing this course

Pros:

  • IIIT Bangalore has a very diverse and talented peer group because it has no reservation policy.
  • The placements have been spectacular from the first batch itself when the median package stood at INR 14.7 LPA.
  • IIIT Bangalore is known for its highly experienced and talented faculty. Their profiles are at par with IIT and NIT professors and are also very approachable.
  • Located in the IT hub, IIIT Bangalore students receive internship offers from many top firms and IT Giants.
  • The college has excellent campus and hostel facilities and every minor inconvenience is taken care of.

Cons:

  • The college is CS-oriented and gives little importance to sports and other extracurricular activities. Students are more involved in hackathons and other coding competitions.

  • IIIT Bangalore operates from a very small campus of only 10 acres.
  • The course offered is a 5-year course rather than the usual 4-year course which requires you to spend an extra year doing an internship or a thesis.
  • IIIT Bangalore does not enjoy a very good reputation among recruiters yet mainly because it’s newly established.
  • It’s very expensive and the cost of the first year fees of the integrated program is INR ?3.84 Lakhs.

Considering everything, IIIT Bangalore will take a few more years to establish itself and therefore should only be considered if you have no better options.

How tough is the iMtech(Btech+Mtech) course at IIIT Bangalore?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : October 9th, 2023

The iMTech course at IIIT Bangalore is quite challenging and rigorous. The students are evaluated weekly through tests and assignments. They hardly get any free time. However, students joining this course are aware of the right and still are committed to hard work.

A friend who joined the recent batch shared her experience. The first quiz took place just 12 days from the orientation after which quizzes were scheduled for every week. She had to go through strict deadlines for completion of 50% of Python and C in just 2 weeks.

The college has a very rigorous academic ambiance helping students to become punctual and learn time management. Some energetic souls despite their busy schedules, spare time for sports, competitions, hackathons, fests, and other fun activities.

So eventually you choose the quality of life at IIIT Bangalore!

How is the M.Tech life in JNTUH Hyderabad?

JP
Jiten Pradhan Posted On : August 8th, 2023
Studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

Life as an M.Tech student at JNTUH is quite satisfactory. We usually have 3  classes a day of 90 minutes each, for 2 semesters. We get the other 12 months for our project work. The classes are held for 5 days a week and 75% attendance is compulsory. Lab hours vary according to the respective department.

Most of the teachers are friendly, supportive, and highly qualified. The students mostly get placed in the 2nd semester itself with a package of at least 4 LPA.

The JNTUH infrastructure is well-maintained. The library has all the important books. The campus is green and the hostels are well-maintained especially the newly built ones. The sports infrastructure is also good. You can play Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Football and Cricket. There is a floodlight facility as well. Almost every evening, students can be spotted playing football on campus.

Thus, the M.Tech life at JNTUH is quite good and you won’t regret taking admission over here.

Is NIT Hamirpur a good college for M.Tech in any specialization of Civil Engineering?

AM
Arpit Mukherjee Posted On : September 13th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Raipur

NIT Hamirpur B.Tech Civil Engineering department lacks a research environment and proper lab facilities for both UG and PG programs. As far as academics are concerned, the department is ahead of many NITs. However, the infrastructure and teaching methodology are not in line with new-age requirements. Even the placement scenario for M.Tech Civil at NIT Hamirpur isn't good.

In comparison to other branches, the Department of Environmental Engineering and Energy Resources has better research facilities. For an M.Tech in Civil Engineering, I would like you to try these institutions - IIT Roorkee, BITS, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, NIT Allahabad, and NIT Delhi.

NIT Hamirpur isn’t the best choice for an M.Tech Civil program.

What is the better college for an M.Tech VLSI, NITK Surathkal or IIT Guwahati?

NT
Nived Tripathi Posted On : May 3rd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG)

In my opinion, IIT Guwahati is a better option than NITK Surathkal. Here is why:

  • IIT Guwahati alumni network is stronger than NIT Surathkal.
  • The IIT tag proves to be helpful in attracting good companies irrespective of whichever branch you belong to.
  • Another major nightlight of IIT Guwahati is the beautiful campus that is a treat to the eyes of a nature lover
  • The peer group will comprise the most talented geniuses in the country, unlike NIT.
  • Many major recruiters tend to visit IITs only.
  • A few companies like Qualcomm do not open R&d profiles in NITs but they do in older IITs.
  • The package size offered by some companies like CISCO varies in IITs and NITs.

All in all, IIT Guwahati is better than NIT Surathkal in many aspects.

How are the placements for an M.Tech in the IIT-BHU (Banaras Hindu University)?

RS
Rupali Samal Posted On : March 7th, 2024

IIT BHU is one of the best engineering colleges in our country. So its placements are certainly good. The placements are slightly better for B.Techs, but even M.Techs receive ample opportunities. The placements are above 90% for CS, IT,EXTC, and core specializations.

If you get a chance to become a part of IIT BHU, you should definitely consider joining. However, for that, you’ll need a good GATE score. Apart from the placements, its academics will polish your knowledge and learning.

How much is a part-time M.Tech in Anna University worth?

AT
Arun Singh Tanwar Posted On : December 16th, 2022
B.E in Computer Engineering, Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2016)

Honestly speaking, a part-time M.Tech course is not of much worth. A course like M.Tech requires a practical approach. This won't be much possible at Anna University. So all you will be left behind is a title attached to your name. This course is also a waste of time and money as the fees of this course are quite high.

This course won't yield you any valuable results unless you are extremely passionate and a self-learner.
