Will I get a good placement with 70% in 10th, 70% in 12th, 63% in graduation, and an MBA from FMS Delhi?

AR
Arun Rajagopal Posted On : December 29th, 2022
Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

If you are concerned about your past academic records then rest assured for the final placements don’t usually pay much attention to past academic records.

MBA is much more than just learning and writing your answers and scoring good marks. It is more about applying logic and increasing your decision-making skills. So to compensate for your poor past academic performance, become a part of the managerial committee and improve your resume. Enhancing your decision-making and managerial skills will increase your chances of getting a good placement than your academic background.

Also, FMS in itself is a brand name that will fetch you a good package.

What was your profile for the IIM Udaipur interview?

PM
Pramod Marapalli Posted On : January 17th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Raipur

My sister recently graduated from IIM Udaipur. Her interview at IIM Udaipur was one to remember. Her profile looked like this

Class 10th marks: 93%

Class 12th marks: 82%

Graduation: BSc Agriculture 81%

CAT: 95 percentile

Internships: 20 weeks of Rural Agricultural Work experience, 2 modules of Experiential Learning Programme-Food processing & Mushroom Cultivation

Hobbies: Reading and Painting

Shortcomings: One major shortcoming in her profile was the one year gap she took post 12th to prepare for her Medical Entrance Exam.

Some points of inference from her profile are

  • Your past academics matter but not more than your CAT percentile
  • You can get admission despite being a fresher
  • You need to be confident while delivering your answers
  • In case of a gap, you should have a convincing answer to it
  • Gain maximum exposure through internships

So even someone with an average profile can get a converted call!

How is Thapar University? Which is better, Manipal or Thapar?

AS
Aishwarya Sinha Posted On : January 24th, 2023
Studied at the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

If you want to compare Manipal and Thapar University, Thapar University is the better choice.

The academics are unquestionably excellent and experienced. Classroom labs are excellent. There are numerous sports facilities and 40 to 50 clubs or societies. Every day, something related to these societies occurs on campus. One of the best ways to get over homesickness is to stay in a hostel, which has some of the best food in the country.

The number of research projects, major seminars and projects undertaken, MoUs signed, and training programs undertaken by students and faculty members determine whether Thapar University is a good university or not. So, yes, Thapar has completed many projects and has many more in the works, many of which are funded by the government, PSUs, and private organizations, well-organized and detailed training programs with the best organizations, and a lot of investment in research and development with the help of MoUs.

How good is the CSE branch in Karunya University?

BS
Bidipta Saha Posted On : October 25th, 2021
B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering, Karunya University (2017)

I have a few friends who graduated from Karunya University. According to them, it is a decent option for pursuing a course in CSE.

  • Generally for CSE, you need to learn almost everything by self-study. Karunya offers good academics but you will need to put in the effort to do well.
  • There are many professors who take extra classes for app development, web development, etc.
  • A number of clubs are available that you can join for programming, mobile app, open-source software, networking, etc.
  • Labs are well-equipped. However, for CSE, you won’t need much besides your laptop.
  • Karunya regularly conducts Project Expo, Technical Fest, Workshop, etc.
  • CSE has the best placement record at the university. More than 70% of students from CSE get placed.
  • The highest CTC offered at the institute in the recent placement drive was 25 LPA.

So, overall, Karunya University is a good option for pursuing CSE.

What is the procedure for placements at NICMAR? How many stages are conducted when a company comes for placements at NICMAR?

AS
Arpita Sharma Posted On : October 14th, 2021
Studied Advanced Construction Management at National Institute of Construction Management and Research (2019)

NICMAR is a reputed private institute offering MBA in construction management. There are five campuses of the institute, but the main is the Pune campus.

The placements are decent, but the return on investment is not the best. The stages are contingent on the companies visiting the institute. The recruiters are KPMG, L&T Realty, Oberoi, PwC, Samsung, CBRE, and others. Unlike others, some companies conduct group discussions (GD). In general, the following are the steps.

  • Resume Short-list.
  • The aptitude Test might be general or related to your profile. Some companies like HCC, GAMMON, and others conduct technical aptitudes. Others like PwC, KPMG, and others conduct financial aptitude.
  • Group Discussion (GD).
  • Extempore on the given topic.
  • Personal Interviews (PI).

In the end, the companies choose any one or a combination of a few parameters. Therefore, it is impossible to unfold the actual process.
