Is it a good idea to do a PhD in humanities from a technical university like IITs and NITs?

Considering your field, IIMs, TISS, and other apex institutions in Humanities or management studies make the best choices for you.
Go for Ph.D. in IITs or NITs only if you could not get admission into the top humanities and management institutes. Opting for research in an institute that doesn’t specialize in that domain is not a wise choice. However, you can consider top IITs like IITD, IITB, IITM, and other old ones as they carry a lot of exposure with them.
What are the eligibility criteria for a PhD at IIT Kharagpur?
The major criteria for admission to the Ph.D. program at IIT Kharagpur are mentioned below:

The final selection to the Ph.D. program is done on the basis of a Department-Based Test followed by Academic Performance and Work Experience and an Interview.
GATE/ NET/ CSIR/ UGC or SLET-qualified candidates are also eligible for admission. The admission panel m also considers the candidates’ Academic records and Interview Performance while giving out the final merit list.
What should be written in research proposal IIT Madras Direct PhD?
This answer is based on the assumption that you already have an experience of research in your previous degree in a particular area of interest and you are willing to expand it through Ph.D. The research proposal should be based on this area of expertise only and the prescribed word limit should be followed.
