How was your KJ Somaiya GD PI experience?

SK
Somya Khandelwal Posted On : March 31st, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2020)

My brother appeared for his interview last year. His GD PI was at the Vidyavihar campus in Mumbai in the first week of March. He was a little nervous when he walked into the auditorium, where so many people were waiting for their turn.

GD Round: There was a group of 10 people for a case-based discussion. He and the other candidates went into a room where they were provided with a case sheet by the faculty. In addition, they had three minutes to read and think about the case. After which each person would be given 1 minute to conclude.

His group got the case where the question was asked whether the funds allocated to ISRO should be used for other more important purposes. There have been some statistics on the current percentage of GDP allocated to ISRO for their projects and other information in paragraph or two. The discussion had a mix of all that.

One person was shouting that ISRO should not be given any money while some other people, including my brother, were saying that it would help to improve the image of India as a developing nation in terms of technology and eventually attract FDI. Another person used the statistics given in the case very wisely. The rest of the people were chipping in their points to stay in the discussion.

There are few things you must keep in mind:

  • You don't have to raise your voice to make a powerful point.
  • You need to study the case carefully and underscore important information.
  • Quality is always better than quantity. You can make 2-3 points that are better than talking constantly about irrelevant things.
  • Use statistics if they are provided. It adds a lot of significance and contributes to a strong point.
  • It is imperative to be competent in English. It communicates your points very easily to the judge.
  • The conclusions are very important, as in one minute, you can make your point without anyone disturbing you. It will also help you to recover if you didn't perform well in the discussion.

PI Round:

After the GD he really wanted to do well in the PI because the discussion had not gone that well for him.

He knew that the first statement in most college interviews was 'Tell us about yourself.' So, he was already prepared to answer that question by including things that would give them clues as to the questions most favorable to him.

According to his expectations, for most of the interview, the 2-member panel asked him questions about the start-up and all. Other questions were based on general knowledge, such as "Who is Nandan Nilekani?" "What is he famous for?" and so on.

As a mechanical engineer, he was also prepared for the question of his choice to opt for the Financial Services program. The interview went exactly as he thought. He was satisfied with it, and he was pleased that he had most likely recovered the points he had lost in the GD.Being honest and smart made him crack his interview.

Is it worth spending 18 lakhs at NMIMS MBA (MUMBAI)?

GP
Girisha Pandey Posted On : July 27th, 2021
PGDM from NMIMS Hyderabad (2019-2021)

Do not believe in the ranking of the college. It will cost you if you are not a resident of Mumbai as the college does not have a hostel and spending this much amount for an MBA is really stupidity.

You will get an average package of around 12.5-13 LPA for core and 9-10 LPA for HR. Also, the college charges separate amounts for GDPI round and after the release of results, the college demands 9 lakh be deposited immediately within a week.

Also, it is believed that sitting in centralized AC and roaming in posh areas would not help in your overall development but exposure to different fields prepares you for the professional front.

Lastly, we can say that spending too much without availing facilities is not worth it. So abstain from getting admission here. Instead, take admission in other top management colleges where you get exposure to various other fields as well.

Namrata Das Posted On : March 15th, 2024

The B.Tech placement figures of NIT Jamshedpur have been quite good in the recent years. This is especially true for CSE, ECE and EEE. NIT Jamshedpur is one of the few NITs (apart from the top 3), which perform well in their core branch placements. This may be due to its industrial location.

Last year, in 2023, the highest package of 83.4 LPA was recorded by B.Tech CSE, ECE and EEE. Mechanical recorded the highest package of 21 LPA, Metallurgical and Materials recorded it at 14 LPA, Civil at 20 LPA, and Production and Industrial at 22 LPA.

The average package for B.Tech CSE was 26.63 LPA, and for ECE, it was 22.03 LPA. ECE, EEE, Mechanical and Metallurgical reported 100% placements. CSE reported 97.20% placements. Alstom, Tata Motors, Tata Cummins, KPMG, Adobe, etc. were some of the top recruiters for the 2023 placement season.

PT

Sunstone Business School is located in the education hub of Greater Noida. The institute offers management programs with the ‘Pay After Placement’ guarantee. The college claims that you can pay the fees after you get placed in a job.

Before you enroll in the PGDM program, there are certain things you should know about the ‘Pay After Placement’ plan:

  • Get to know about the mentors you will be under. They are trained, industry veterans. Reaching out to the alumni can also help.
  • Before you agree to the paid internship, make sure that the stipend you will get is enough for your daily expenses. Obtain information about the company you will be interning for.
  • Get to know about the recruitment partners, the record of placements, and how the alumni grow before getting into the course.

If you have any doubts about the credibility of the institute then you can keep your college hunting on. The college does deliver on its promises, though.

Can I get admission in CUSAT if I score 65% in the CAT?

SS
Savi Sharma Posted On : February 23rd, 2024

The CUSAT Common Admission Test does not follow any percentage system. You won’t be shown your CAT score either.

The answer key is released 2-3 weeks after the exam, and sent to the candidates’ emails. You can use it to calculate your approximate score in the exam. But that won’t be of much use either. I would suggest you wait till the declaration of your rank.

You can expect a seat in the main campus with a rank >= 4000. A rank higher than that will get you a seat at the CUSEK campus only. Naval Architecture, Safety and Fire and CS are the best branches of SOE. The first two are its flagship programs. For these three branches, you need a rank below 1200.

This is all the necessary information about the engineering admissions in CUSAT based on your CAT rank.

Is it worth paying 16 lakhs for Manipal Institute of Technology?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : September 7th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

Yes, it’s definitely worth paying 16 Lakhs for Manipal Institute of Technology. However, you should change your mindset regarding ROI. You shouldn’t consider education as something that will give you an ROI instantly. You need to change that perspective else you won’t be able to fly high. It’s illogical to compare numbers like fees and salary packages.

The primary purpose of education is to prepare you for life’s challenges. The place that gives you wings to fly. Basically, college life is about identifying yourself.
Manipal is an institute offering a plethora of opportunities. The crowd is from every nook and corner of the world, every walk of life and educational background. Manipal gives you the skills to actively participate in every field. The academics are delivered by some of the best faculty and non-academics are promoted through various clubs and committees. At the end of 4 years, MIT will give you clarity of thought and the confidence to lead your life on your own terms.
