Admission:
Admission at NIT would be much more competitive than IIEST. It requires a higher JEE mains rank. The choice of the subject involves even more competitiveness as it is done at the end of the first year based on CGPA. Most students who get selected at NIT do not wish to go for metallurgy, however, if you are interested, then it is one of the best institutes. IIEST is relatively easy when it comes to admissions and choice of subjects.
Placements:
The B.Tech. program at IIEST may not hold much value, but it is supplemented by excellent research professors who encourage students to take part in national missions and research projects. The competitiveness at NIT won’t provide that opportunity to every student.
IIEST Shibpur holds rank #21 according to the NIRF ranking 2020. The admission is based on JEE Main/WB JEE scores and followed by counseling and interview. For graduate courses, GATE scores are the basis for admission.
NIT Durgapur holds #47 rank according to NIRF 2020 ranking. The admission for undergraduate students is based on JEE results, followed by counseling. NIT Durgapur offers 90 seats for B-tech from electrical engineering.

Disregarding the fees, BIMTECH is better than NIT Durgapur for pursuing an MBA degree because of its infrastructure that’s been specifically tailored for MBA students. NIT Durgapur, on the other hand, being a technical institute, has many graduate students but not the same kind of specialized infrastructure.
In terms of location, BIMTECH is located in the NCR, which may provide more internship and job opportunities. Additionally, companies and guests who visit BIMTECH are specifically looking to meet with management students, which is not there in NIT.
