Many students opt for a less preferred branch on the pretext of changing their branch to CS. If you are one of them, the best way is to keep yourself aware of the coding culture and acquire skills. Only those who are genuinely interested in coding and have related skills should opt for a branch change to CS.
As for the branch change policy at IIT BHU, to make it into CS, you need to be among the top 7–8 people in the college. An immense level of dedication and effort is required as you will be facing tough competition with talented batchmates. You will have to give up on all the fun activities going around and focus only on your studies.
What I feel is if you are adamant about CS, then you should focus on acquiring coding skills and opting for non-placements instead of changing your branch as a whole. But if you are hell-bent on changing the branch all you need to do is study before, in, and after class for 2 semesters.
Choosing streams like Industrial Chemistry can be tricky. Generally, students don’t even understand the scope of the basic courses, let alone a specialized course like chemistry. Don’t go for such a course if you are not well-informed about the career prospect.
If you are interested in civil engineering then don't waste time and apply to the new IITs. It is difficult to decide whether you are interested in a particular field. To find out you can get in contact with Civil Engineering graduates from good universities. Ask about their nature of work and growth in the field, etc. See if that sparks your interest. Also, you will have the option to go for GATE and appear in IES.

BITS Pilani and IIT BHU are considered among the best engineering colleges in the country. You can choose either of these two based on your choice of branch. Here is a brief comparison of both institutes.

There is no limit on the daily internet use at IIT BHU. The internet here can be accessed through both LAN and Wifi with very high speed around 200mbps. The average speed range is 30-90 Mbps. The speed allows you to download all the movies or videos you want to watch in the entire month in just a few hours.
For branch change from mining to MNC in IIT BHU, one needs to consider the following points.
As per the policy, a student of a 4-year program(Btech) can get his branch changed to a 4-year program(Btech) only and a student of a 5-year program(IDD) can get his branch changed to a 5-year program(IDD) only. Considering this, you cannot get your branch changed to MNC unless you are in a 5-year program (IDD) at IIT-BHU mining. IIT BHU offers only an IDD program in Mathematics and Computing.
Another branch change policy states that the total intake of a branch during branch change should be 10% of the total batch strength. Now, Maths and Computing have very few students, only around 20-25. This means only 2 students can get their branch changed into MNC. This results in tough competition and one has to score at least 9.7 CPI to be eligible for branch change.
IIT BHU is heading for placement support more than any other institute in India. This is one of the top 10 IITs, and big companies have easy access to this college.
