BITS Pilani and IIT BHU are considered among the best engineering colleges in the country. You can choose either of these two based on your choice of branch. Here is a brief comparison of both institutes.
Both institutes have their advantages. You should talk to the current students regarding your branch, before choosing one of these two institutes.
If you are interested in a particular branch then go for that branch because both these institutions are one among the top institutions in India. Otherwise, you should prefer IIT BHU over BITS Pilani because of the following factors –
The IIT BHU was founded in 1919 whereas BITS Pilani in 1964. So IIT BHU is one of the oldest institutions in India. The IITs being run by the government body, its fee is less as compared to BITS Pilani. Also being government institutions, IITs have fee waiver schemes available, unlike BITS.
Overall both the institute has good faculties. Moreover, IITs have the lead in the research facilities as well as in research work. Both institutes provide good placement opportunities to their students. According to 2019 placement statistics, a total of 88 and 109 students got placed from Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering respectively in IIT BHU. And in BITS-Pilani the overall placement percentage was 82.8. If you are interested in MS after B.Tech then BITS-Pilani would be the better option. Though IITs are popular worldwide, it is better to have the BITS tag for doing MS. If you are planning for an M.Tech or research-oriented career in India, IIT BHU is better.
Both institutes have a strong and large alumni network. BITS has many alumni working in foreign, international brands, but the alumni network of IIT BHU is larger since it is an older institute and its alumni are present in every possible career paths.
