How is the placement of ECE branch in BIT Mesra?
You’ll receive ample placement opportunities at BIT Mesra, given that you understand electronics well. You may consider joining Robolution, which will give you an edge over the others. Qualcomm visits the ECE department with good offers. A few years back, it appointed 4-5 ECE students for a package of 15 LPA. If you are willing to put in the extra effort and learn coding, you may get into good IT companies. Some of them being- Microsoft, Amazon and IBM.
Academically, the ECE department of BIT Mesra isn’t the most ideal choice. This is because the department faculty is strict, and the curriculum is tough. If you couldn’t get CSE at BIT Mesra, you can try for IT instead of ECE. The ECE branch requires a lot of effort and time, which can be overwhelming.
Is it a better choice for choosing FMS Delhi over IIM A or IIM B when compared to placement salary?
There is no question at all if you are optimising for salary in the short term. On average, you would earn more at IIM Ahmedabad and Bangalore than at FMS. In the long run, it will be much more dependent on you and a little bit on the profile you want to work in. However, ceteris paribus and on average IIM Ahmedabad or IIM Bangalore will earn more or as much as an FMS grad. Choose A or B if you want to maximise your placement salary.
Whether you should optimise for placement salary is a different question, and the answer depends on what you want to do with your life.
How are the placements at NIT Pondicherry?
NIT Puducherry has maintained a good placement record over the years. According to the highlights, the placement rate for the institute is around 80%. NIT Puducherry placement has an average CTC of INR 4.9 LPA. While the highest CTC goes upto INR 15.25 LPA. ABB, Techmahindra, Optum are some of the major recruiters for NIT Puducherry.
What package do IISER graduates get after a BS-MS?
IISERs are not established for just placement purposes rather the motto is to build the scientific aptitude among students so that they earn more from their skills and knowledge.
The curriculum at IISER has a strong base and you will eventually give up the idea of placements. This is why most students apply for Ph.D. after completing BS-MS from here. Ideally, you cannot compare IIT with IISER in terms of placements as most of the IT companies do not find IISERites to be worthful until they have acquired some skills of their own.
Do not apply here just for the sake of doing engineering as the level of competition is very high at IISER. You will be wasting 5 years if you do not want to pursue higher studies and looking just for placements.
Even if you look for job opportunities after BS-MS, you can take up jobs as biologists, chemists, mathematicians, physicists with a salary of around INR 50,000 per month.
How are placements at IPM IIM Indore as compared to IITs?
IIMs and IITs are completely different brands. While IIMs offer management studies, the forte of IITs is engineering studies. So it is not wise to compare the placements of IIM Indore with those of the IITs.

- The highest package for 2023 was 1.14 CPA, with an increase of 132.6% from the previous placement season.
- The average CTC was 30.21 LPA, and the median CTC was 27.2 LPA. The average CTC saw 20.8% increase, and the median CTC saw 12.9% increase.
- The average CTC for top 100 placed students was 52.06 LPA, and for top 200 placed students, it was 40.55 LPA.
- The list of prominent recruiters included names like Google, Adani, Accenture, Cipla, EY, IBM, etc.
- Companies from Consulting, Finance, General Management, HR, Operations, IT, Analytics, Sales and Marketing sectors visited the campus for recruitments.
Thus, IIM Indore is a great choice for your management studies. But make sure to choose your career path based on your goals and vision, instead of simply looking at the placement stats of various colleges.
How are the placements in IIT Gandhinagar?
IIT Gandhinagar placements have been good for 2022. A total of 250 companies took part in the campus drive this year. The average and highest CTC offered this year were INR 20.77 LPA and INR 50 LPA, respectively. The average CTC for the top 25% of the batch was INR 23.25 LPA. Accenture, Oracle, Samsung Research, ITC, Infosys, and Deloitte, were among the major recruiters that took part in the placement drive.
How are placements of Narula Institute of Technology, Kolkata?
My brother is a 2020 pass out from Narula Institute of technology. According to his experience, when it comes to placement, Narula Institute of Technology is not quite up to the mark.
- TCS, Tech Mahindra, and ITC Infotech are the only three reputable IT companies that came for placement drives, and they take only a handful of students from all departments (mostly from CSE, IT & ECE).
- Some local startup companies visit the campus, and once you learn about the salary packages the students are offered, you will definitely lose interest.
- TCS is a mass recruiter and still, they hired not more than 5 students altogether from every department.
CSE students tend to get slightly better placement opportunities than other departments.

As you have not mentioned any specifications, let me just describe the placement scenario of Metallurgy at NIT Trichy.
- The placements generally vary from year to year.
- Out of a batch of around 60 students, people looking for placements every year is around 40.
- The rest of the people either go for higher studies or have some other plans.
- Most of the people get into material science-related fields at very good universities.
- Out of the 40 students, around 30 usually get placed.
- Companies that usually open for metallurgy graduates include, Core Metal (steel/ aluminium), Automobile, Analytics, Software and others.
- There are a few companies that are regular visitors. The rest depends on the market and your training placement coordinator.
- Placements for metallurgy students are lesser than the other departments.
