The MTech metallurgy in NIT Trichy is a two year course at the postgraduate level. To get admission in this course the students must meet the eligibility requirement of a minimum of 60% in graduation. This degree is in high demand at NIT Trichy. Every year more than 90% of the batch gets placed as many students opt for higher education. NIT Trichy invites the top companies to visit the college and recruit its students. For 2023, the placement statistics of Metallurgy at NIT Trichy were wonderful. 97% of the whole batch was placed. The median salary was around INR 9.50 Lakhs. Top recruiters included Aricent, HONEYWELL, Ashok Leyland, Microsoft, Volvo, PepsiCo, etc.

NIT Trichy is one of the best NITs in terms of faculty, facilities, rankings and placements. NITT has superior B.Tech and M.Tech in comparison to many other engineering colleges. 

The Metallurgy Department of NIT Trichy offers three M.Tech specializations in Metallurgy. These are- Welding Engineering, Industrial Metallurgy and Material Science & Engineering.

In 2022, 95.5 % students from Welding Engineering were successfully placed from the campus. This percentage was 92.3 for the students of Industrial Metallurgy, and 95.2 for students of Material Science. 

The placements are quite good for M.Tech Metallurgy at NIT Trichy.

During the 2020 placement, NIT Trichy Metallurgy placement for M.Tech had a placement rate of around 65%. The highest CTC received by the student of this branch is INR 12.6 LPA. The average CTC  for the branch is INR 8 LPA. GE, Baker Hughes, Lincoln Electric, and Hyundai are the major recruiters of the M.Tech Metallurgy branch.

Trust me NIT Trichy is undoubtedly one of the best among all the NITs in terms of ranking, faculties, facilities, placement, etc. B.Tech courses are undoubtedly superior here. Also, the M.Tech courses at NIT Trichy's are much better compared to other NITs. 

Coming to the Metallurgy department, for M.Tech there are three specialties available. 

  • Welding Engineering,
  • Industrial Metallurgy,
  • Material Science & Engineering.

Here is the placement average for the Metallurgy specializations at NIT Trichy. 

  • M.Tech Welding Engineering - 72.2%
  • M.Tech Industrial Metallurgy - 79.9%
  • M.Tech Material Science and Engineering - 76.9%

In the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered at the institute was 6 LPA.
