IIT BHU placements are decent for Ceramic Engineering. But very few students get core placements. Tata Steel is among the core recruiters that take part in the campus drive.
Most students are recruited in non-core job profiles such as Software Developer, Data Scientist, etc. The highest CTC offered for the students of this branch is around INR 38 LPA.
The placement scenario of IIT-BHU metallurgical engineering is not as good as other branches but this is improving every year. More companies like Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and Saint Gobain are coming with job offers for B.Tech, IDD, and M.Tech students. The chances of getting placed are more for a B.Tech student than for an M.Tech student.
In the year 2016, 52 B.Tech, 16 IDD, and 10 M.Tech students registered for placement out of which 36 B.Tech, 11 IDD, and 1 M.Tech student secured jobs. The highest CTC was 13 LPA, the lowest CTC was 5 LPA and the average CTC was 7.78 LPA. These statistics have improved in successive years.
In the year 2019, 44 out of 47 registered students got placed and the average CTC was 9.67 LPA. This clearly shows that the percentage of students getting placed and the average package amount has improved over the years.
Moreover, not all students register for placement rather they prepare for other entrance examinations like CAT, GATE, GRE, UPSC, etc. The chances of clearing these entrance examinations are higher here than other IITs because one gets more free time in IIT-BHU and can spend more time in personal development. This will help them in grabbing good jobs even without registering for placements.
Some non-core companies also present job offers that are open to all branches. These recruiters only look for a particular set of skills that one can acquire through online courses in their free time. Thus there are many opportunities for the students and it depends on the student how he/she grabs the opportunity

The news is absolutely real and has been verified by IIT BHU officials. And as for their branches, one of them is from CSE, 2 from ECE and one from Electrical. However, those 1.54 Crore packages were from US-based companies where the Living costs and Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) is way higher than that of India. Generally, it includes stock options for 4 years and variable bonuses. The media shows the package without giving any insight into the package breakdown. It sometimes builds unjustified hype and unrealistic expectations for the students. However, the average package offered in IIT BHU was ranging between 10 LPA to 58 LPA.
Placements Of Chemical engineering at IIT BHU are quite decent. The average package which a chemical engineering student gets depends on the sector in which he/she will work. Broadly speaking, there are two sectors of work for chemical engineering students, first the core sector and second the non- core sector. The core sector comprises like ONGC, IOCL, HUL, ITC, etc. offers ranged between 10- 12 lakhs per annum in the year 2019. From the chemical engineering department, a total of 43 students got placed last year.
The second sector is the non-core sector which comprises software, analytics, and consultancy firms. Placements in this sector are relatively easy because more job offers are available particularly in the software sector. The average package offered by software firms is around 23- 24 lacs per annum and the highest package offered in this sector was 55 lacs per annum. These companies are not interested in academic credentials but are only concerned about the coding knowledge of the applicants. Generally, if a student starts coding in his/her 4th year then he/she settles with a package of Rs 10- 13 lacs per annum, but on the contrary, if a student starts coding from his/her first year then he/she generally gets a package of around 35 lacs. Also, some students pursue their career in analytical and consultancy firms. The average package in these firms is around 15 lacs per annum.
IIT BHU is one of the best engineering colleges in our country. So its placements are certainly good. The placements are slightly better for B.Techs, but even M.Techs receive ample opportunities. The placements are above 90% for CS, IT,EXTC, and core specializations.
If you get a chance to become a part of IIT BHU, you should definitely consider joining. However, for that, you’ll need a good GATE score. Apart from the placements, its academics will polish your knowledge and learning.
