BHU: Balanced Review

BS

Remarks :

To get admitted to BHU for any course there is an entrance examination. Earlier BHU conducted its own entrance but from 2023 students have to clear the cut-off of the Central University Entrance Test(CUET) conducted by the Government for all Central Universities. One can find the entrance exam form, dates and fees with all the guidelines on the CUET website. I belong to the general category, therefore, I availed the girl student benefit. Other benefits can be availed by the respective categories on submitting the required proofs. The improvement most required is constant official news to be released on the website regarding the dates of results, counselling and the rest of the process. It should be completed within a stipulated time period. The management should handle the technical and other faults more effectively to save the students from stress and uncertainty.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course as I want to build a career in Literature and the University is quite reputed and has a good ranking. The faculty-student ratio is not adequate. It's 1:60 on average with some streams exceeding 70 students per teacher. The faculty has one good quality in common, they are all interested in teaching and good with it. The one quality that would have lighted it up as if they put in more effort to create an environment of learning and not provide just exam-centred structures. They are qualified teachers although these few years a lack of professors has made our college allow assistant professors to take up classes which is not the most amazing experience.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees are relatively low. For my course, it costs around 2500 rupees per year and an additional 5000 for the hostel per year. It is the best perk of a central university. If by the way, the student takes admission on a paid seat it costs 10,000 extra per year. (Paid seats are given to those who can afford the extra charge and want to upgrade their course or college from the one that has been allotted during the counselling.) There also is a scholarship available for those who have a family income lower than a standard. The forms are made available after the counselling is over for the admitted students. There are certain internship opportunities provided by the college outside of my field. But no placements as a literature graduate. The one profession expected to be taken up is that of a professor after gaining a PhD.

Campus Life :

SPANDAN is the annual fest conducted by BHU as a whole. Different colleges have different fests. Our college for that matter has not yet organised any annual fest. Since B-tech is not available as a course in our college, no tech fests are organised. The main campus has several fests including KASHIYATRA and ELIXIR. conducted in the month of January and December. The central library is one of a kind. The college library may provide hidden gems though. The classrooms have high ceilings as it is an ancient university. The infrastructure is very eco-friendly. It is the biggest attraction point of this university. The campus is almost the size of a small city. Thich walls, high ceilings, gardens, trees and the New Vishwanath Temple all create a good environment. The Digi- boards have also been installed in most classes. And it is being updated. There are many clubs and many activities that keep going on campus. All this is regulated currently through WhatsApp groups.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have joined this course because I have an interest in Sanskrit .and apart from that I have chosen a subject called Baudh darshan. In my class girls and boys ratio is around 10:1. If you're attending the class then the semester exam is very easy to pass. All the faculty have qualifications as Ph.D. or Doctoral.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was vast, well-designed, and updated somewhat regularly (once in 2-3 years). The faculty members were very well qualified (all had PhDs) and very competent and renowned, with multiple research publications to their name. In fact, one of my professors recently was even awarded the very prestigious Fulbright fellowship. Needless to say, the faculty reflect the brand name BHU carries.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen this course because I have an interest in the history subject, I always had a curiosity side in my heart for history as I always want to know and study history. The faculty is very much helpful and they help the students with theri learning ability and always try to make the subject interesting I don't have much idea about the qualification of the faculty but the professor should a have a PhD on the given subject or he/she should be doing PhD on that particular subject Exams are taken on every semester i.e. every six months, it isn't that difficult to pass the exams if you are studying for the semester daily for 3,4 hours you can pass the exam
