I chose this course as I want to build a career in Literature and the University is quite reputed and has a good ranking. The faculty-student ratio is not adequate. It's 1:60 on average with some streams exceeding 70 students per teacher. The faculty has one good quality in common, they are all interested in teaching and good with it. The one quality that would have lighted it up as if they put in more effort to create an environment of learning and not provide just exam-centred structures. They are qualified teachers although these few years a lack of professors has made our college allow assistant professors to take up classes which is not the most amazing experience.

BHU buzz!

7.8Helpful
I took admission in BA (Hons) Arts - English. I chose it because I am fascinated by English literature although in 12th I was in PCM i.e Science stream. In BA (Hons) you have 3 subjects (2 core and 1 honor), 1 language, and 1 soft skill paper (only in 2nd year). There is approx 40:1 student-teacher ratio but on an average day not more than 25 students are present in the class (that's college for you. All teachers are quite proficient and highly qualified. Most of the professors have a very enjoyable way of teaching but some others' classes are just boring! Here is semester system i.e in 3 years, we have 6 semesters in total. Semester exams are conducted timely and strictly! Each paper is of (70+30) marks- 30 marks for assignments & class test and 70 marks for theoretical exams. The theory exams are quite strict and if you don't study you are most likely to fail.

I choose this course because I want to get a graduation degree in the art stream. A student ratio of my faculty is 7:3 boys and girls. Arts faculty teaching methods are very good. Like lecture theatre. Every 6 months arts faculty conduct a semester exam. It is very simple to pass the semester exam.

The teaching methods are really good I love how teachers explain briefly every topic. Just because of corona our examination was held after every 3 months that's was difficult to prepare 6 months syllabus in 3 months but we did it.
