IIT Hyderabad Course Admissions 2024: Cutoff, Selection Criteria, Dates, Eligibility

Candidates seeking admission to the IIT Hyderabad BDes program must qualify for the UCEED 2023 program. Candidates with a valid UCEED exam score are required to appear for the DAT exam conducted by the IIT Hyderabad itself. The qualifying candidates are further called for the PI round for the final selection.

IIT Hyderabad BDes Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking to IIT Hyderabad BDes program must have a pass in Class 12 and a valid score of the UCEED examination.

IIT Hyderabad BDes Selection Criteria

For admission to the IIT Hyderabad BDes program, the candidate must qualify for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). The candidate will be shortlisted for the internal examination conducted by the institute known as DAT (Design Aptitude Test) based on the UCEED score. Candidates qualifying for the DAT examination will be called for the PI round.

Admission to IITH MDes program is based on a CEED exam score. The institute shortlists candidates for the PI round based on the CEED exam score. The final list of the selected students is prepared on the basis of the CEED exam score + PI round marks.

IIT Hyderabad M.Des Eligibility Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design or equivalent (4 years duration after 10+2).
• Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of 4 years duration after 10+2).
• B.F.A. (4-year professional program, after 10+2).
• G.D. Art (5-year program after 10th) with one-year post-qualification, professional experience Masters degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2-year program after 10+2+3).
• The candidate should have at least 55% marks in the qualifying examination.

IIT Hyderabad M.Des Selection Criteria:

• For admission to M.Des Program offered by IIT Hyderabad, candidates are required to appear for the CEED exam.
• The candidate will be shortlisted for Design Aptitude Test (DAT) based on the CEED score. Based on the DAT scores, the candidates are screened and shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a Personal Interview. 
• The final selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in Design Aptitude Test (DAT), Personal Interview, Academic Performance, and Design Portfolio.

• There are some factors that affect the cutoff list, a few of them is the difficulty level of the exam, number of seats, number of candidates who have given the exam.

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad offers an MSc program in major three streams i.e. Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Admission to IITH MSc program is entrance-based. Candidates qualifying the entrance exam are called for the interview round for the final selection.

IIT Hyderabad M.Sc Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree in Science with 55% Marks or 5.5 CGPA on the scale of 10 are eligible for admission to M.Sc Program.

IIT Hyderabad offers MA in Development studies whereby the candidates applying for the course are required to appear for the entrance examination and the PI round. 

IIT Hyderabad MA Eligibility Criteria

55% marks or equivalent CGPA in the Bachelor’s degree. Shortlisted candidates must pass a written test and/or interview conducted by the Department of Liberal Arts. 

IIT Hyderabad MA Selection Process

Admission to IIT Hyderabad MA will be done on the basis of interview and test conducted by IITH.

IIT Hyderabad MTech admissions are through GATE exam scores. The institute offers an MTech program in three categories, namely, 2-year MTech, 3-year MTech, and Executive MTech. The selection criteria in all three categories vary from each other and the candidate applying for the same must fulfill the eligibility for the same:

The eligibility criteria for a 2-year MTech at IIT Hyderabad is as follows:

• B.Tech../ B.E. degree in any engineering discipline or an MSc/ MS/ MCA degree in CS/ IT/ Maths An excellent academic record.
• Candidates having professional qualifications recognized by AICTE, like AMIE, are also eligible to apply. 
• The candidate should have demonstrated an adequate background in computer science (Valid GATE score in CS/ IT).

The eligibility criteria for a 3-year MTech at IIT Hyderabad is as follows:

• Candidates with no work experience are required to have a valid GATE score.
  • B.Tech../ B.E. degree in any engineering discipline or an MSc/ MS/ MCA degree in CS/ IT/ Maths An excellent academic record.
  • Candidates having professional qualifications recognized by AICTE, like AMIE, are also eligible to apply. 
  • The candidate should have demonstrated an adequate background in computer science (Valid GATE score in CS/ IT).
• Candidates with 6 months of work experience are exempted from the GATE exam score.
  • A 4-year B.Tech./B.E. degree in any engineering discipline or an MSc/MS/MCA degree in ECE/Statistics/CS/IT/Maths, and have an excellent academic record. Candidates having professional qualifications recognized by AICTE, like AMIE, are also eligible to apply, AND
  • The candidate must be currently involved in a project with a faculty at IITH, and the current supervisor’s project funds sponsor the expenses of the M.Tech. Program, AND
  • A sponsorship letter from the project supervisor needs to be produced at the time of the selection interview (see details of the selection process in Section III below).

The eligibility criteria for an Executive MTech at IIT Hyderabad is as follows:

• The candidate must have a minimum work experience of 2 years in the industry and be employed at the time of applying.
• The candidate must have a BTech/ BE/ AMIE degree in CS/ EE/ IT/ ECE, or a MCA, a MSc/ MS degree in CS/ IT/ Maths/ Stat, and have an excellent academic record.
• For candidates from other branches, they must have passed the GATE exam in Computer Science with more than 80 percentile rank.

IIT Hyderabad MTech Selection Criteria

The selection criteria for the IIT Hyderabad MTech program is as follows:

• Admission to the 2-year M.Tech is guided primarily by GATE score cut-offs and follow-up interviews, as required. The admission offers are made via COAP counseling (Common Offer Acceptance Portal). The department may conduct further rounds of written tests and interviews after COAP to fill any unfilled seats. The candidates are shortlisted for the COAP counseling based on their marks obtained in the GATE exam
• Admission to a 3-year MTech program is based on an entrance exam followed by the interview round for the shortlisted candidates. The department of CSE uses various parameters including the GATE exam score to shortlist candidates for the entrance test and interview. 
• After filling the application form, the candidate is shortlisted for the written test/ interview round. Candidates are then selected for the final admission based on their work experience, written test/ interview marks.

MTech in Data Science IIT Hyderabad

IIT Hyderabad offers MTech in Data Science (MDS) which is an extension to the Executive MTech in Data Science (EMDS) and is equivalent to the regular MTech degree. The course is majorly for the working executives, so the classes are usually held on weekends and or other timings suitable for working professionals.

The course is self-paced with 48 credits which could be taken over in 3-5 years of duration. Like EMDS, students undergo 24 credits of course work in the first 2 years, and in the third year, the candidates are required to undergo 2 Capstone projects of 12 credits each. Students who wish to skip the Capstone projects, he/ she may graduate with the Executive MTech in Data Science. 

In other words, MTech with Capstone Project= MTech in Data Science Degree & MTech without Capstone Project= Executive MTech in Data Science.

IIT Hyderabad MTech in Data Science Eligibility

The candidate must exclusively be working in the industry. The other mandatory requirements are as follows:

• BTech or BE degree in CSE/ EE/ IT/ ECE. OR MCA/ MSc/ MS/ ME/ MTech degree in CS/ IT.
• 70% marks or 7 CGPA in the qualifying exam.
• The qualifying exams include BTech/BE in CS/EE/IT/ECE, or MCA, or MSc/MS/ME/M.Tech. in CS/IT).
• The candidate must have 3 years of experience and must be employed at the time of application.
• Candidates with BTech/ BE or MCA/ MSc/ ME/ MTech degree in other disciplines must have an outstanding academic record and programming work experience in the relevant industry.

IIT Hyderabad MTech in Data Science Selection Criteria

IIT Hyderabad MDS Selection Criteria includes a written test followed by the online interview session. The final shortlist for admission is prepared on the basis of interview round marks and the written test scores.

IIT Hyderabad Online MTech/ MDes Selection Criteria

The candidates will be shortlisted for admission based on merits obtained in the previous qualifying examination and other factors.

IIT Hyderabad Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

For admission to Ph.D. Program at IIT Hyderabad, candidates have required to full fill the given eligibility criteria:

• First-class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ ST) in Master’s Degree in Science/ Engineering / Technology Or M.Tech./ M.E./ M.S.(Engineering/ Technology) degree with first-class or equivalent in the respective or allied areas.
