IIT Hyderabad MDes admission 2024 are based on CEED Exam score. The registration process for CEED 2024 is ongoing now and the last date to register for the exam is October 31 (Without late fees)/ November 07 (With late fees). The admission process of IIT Hyderabad MDes admission will start in June 2024. The minimum eligibility required for admission is a degree/diploma/post graduate degree programme of minimum three years (after 10+2 level). Candidates are selected for admission based on their marks obtained in the CEED exam.

IIT Hyderabad MDes Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have at least 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST) or comparable grades in the qualifying examinations, which are as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Design, or Interior Design, or an equivalent (4-year program following 10+2)
  • Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or 4-year program equivalent after 10+2)
  • BFA (four-year professional program following 10+2)
  • Professional background Master of Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2-year program following 10+2+3).

IIT Hyderabad M.Des Application process

The IIT Hyderabad M.Des Application process is as follows:

  • The IITH portal will be used for application to the program.
  • M Des offers three specializations: Visual Design, Interaction Design, and Product Design. In a program year, a candidate may apply for a maximum of two specializations.
  • Candidates who have been shortlisted for online screening, DAT, and personal interviews will be notified through email.
  • The DAT and personal interview will take place on the IITH campus.
  • The final selection is contingent on the number of seats allowed by the institute.

For MoE seats: The Common Entrance Test for Design is the qualifying exam (CEED)
  • Shortlisting for Design Aptitude Test (DAT) based on a Valid CEED Score

Selection Process for Self-sponsored seats:

CEED certification is not required for the Self-sponsored category. Students must, however, meet the other eligibility criteria listed for admittance to the M Des program.

The selection procedure consists of three steps. To shortlist for the DAT and personal interview, an online screening test will be administered. Applicants who do not take the online screening test will be disqualified from the admissions process.

At IIT Hyderabad Master of Design Program is Available in 3 (Regular) Specializations.

  • M Des in Visual Design: This two-year Visual Design degree opens up a world of tangible and intangible expressions in Graphic Design, Typography, Illustration, Publishing, and Visual Branding. Moving images, animations, film design, space and architecture, web and interaction design, and newer technologies that require user engagement and experience are also included.
  • M Des in Interaction Design: This is a two-year Interaction Design curriculum that provides an opportunity to learn about human, non-human, spatial, and technological components of Interaction Design. The design department's interdisciplinary courses encourage students to investigate Interactions in Physical Space, Virtual Reality, Digital Installations, User Interfaces, Data Narratives, Digital Systems and Services, Speculative Futures, and much more.
  • M Des in Product Design: The two-year Product Design program provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience designing products for a variety of domains, including consumer goods, crafts, electronics, healthcare equipment, furniture, vehicles, and other developing areas. This curriculum also promotes student awareness of best practices in sustainability and the circular economy. Another option students can take is to study cross-disciplinary aspects of product design and interaction design.
