I chose NMIMS Bangalore over KJ Somaiya from where i got an offer as well because NMIMS is a brand name, the batch size compared to KJ Somaiya is one third and the average placement is higher as well. One other reason would be the high cost of living in Mumbai. I applied to KJ Somaiya and TAPMI as well. Rejected KJ Somaiya and didn’t get shortlisted for TAPMI. I got rejected from TAPM, their shortlisting criteria completely changed and I couldn’t do anything to change it. The admission process for NMIMS Bangalore is basically by clearing the NMAT exam, I scored around 230 and the cut off for it was i think around 224. NMIMS only take NMAT for consideration. The overall admission process is smooth only. Once you get the offer letter you just have to upload your documents and they will upload them in sometime

NMIMS Mumbai accepts NMAT Score for Admission to its MBA Program. The minimum score required for admission can vary from year to year, depending on various factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, the number of applications received and the specific program you are applying for.
NMIMS Mumbai NMAT Cutoff 2024 is expected to be 232 for the MBA program. 70% Weightage is assigned to the NMAT exam for admission to the MBA program.
NMIMS may have deteriorated over the last few years but it still is considered one of the top 10 B Schools in the country. It is still preferred by many owing to various factors like location, industry exposure, placements, and peer learning.
Pros
Cons
The increasing batch size has become a major issue thereby reducing the overall quality of education and placements.
Before answering your question let me draw a comparison between both the colleges on the basis of the given factors

If you are still not satisfied, let me tell you one very important point. Choosing NMIMS will make you a BBA graduate only whereas the IPM program at IIM Rohtak will make you an MBA graduate. So choose wisely!
Compared to other entrance exams, NMAT is a relatively easier one. But because most students that sit for NMAT want to get into NMIMS so the competition is tough. So just getting across the cutoff is not sufficient, you need to aim for the highest.
The other aspects of the admission process through NMAT include
One needs to keep certain points regarding NMAT in mind. Firstly an excellent score does not guarantee admission. You have to ace the CD and PI rounds as well. But overall the chances of conversion are high due to high intake provided that you perform well in CD and PI. Separate rounds of CD and PI are held for Core and HRM. Also, NMIMS has a 30% reservation for girls.
Some tips that will increase your chances of conversion to NMIMS are
SOP: Your Statement of Purpose should clearly state why MBA, that too from NMIMS. It should state valid reasons as to why you should be selected over other students by mentioning your unique traits.
Case Discussion: The Case Discussion round is more to analyze your personality than your knowledge. So follow the rules throughout and give 2-3 solid points and give others an equal opportunity. Don't validate your opinion rudely at all.
Personal Interview: The interview is usually conducted by 3 panelists. If you have work experience, you will be questioned regarding that. For instance your role in your previous company and achievements. They will also question your goals after your MBA and which industry you have chosen and why. To stay on the safer side, be well-versed in current affairs. Also, don’t lose your calm at any given moment.
While many may not agree, the new IIMs are far better than NMIMS. People prefer NMIMS mainly because of its location and legacy. If you come out of that criteria then you realize that the new IIMs are much more. I have compared the new IIMs with NMIMS on the basis of a few aspects.
So the new IIMs are far better in terms of brand, faculty, and even ROI.
Preparing for the CD PI round is a crucial part because your chances of admission depend on them largely. My answer entails the tips one must adhere to before and during the Case Discussion round.
Before Case Discussion
Be well versed in current affairs, general knowledge and industry trends.
Prepare arguments on some specific topics including both sides of the argument
Prepare concise but concrete points
Mock discussions are the most precise way to prepare for CD
Analyze your own performance relentlessly and keep improving
During Case Discussions
Personal Interview
Mock CD and PI are extremely important as the advice and feedback received will increase your performance and confidence tremendously.
Coming to the second part of your question, Both colleges have different merit lists. If you don't do well in NM Mumbai rounds, you still stand a chance to convert your NM Bangalore/Hyderabad call, provided you’ve applied for a PGDM course as well.
To increase your chances of admission into NMIMS Mumbai, it is recommended that you aim for a score of 209-210 in the NMAT exam. It is also important to clear the sectional cut-offs. However, it is essential to note that a higher score does not guarantee admission while a lower score does not necessarily reduce your chances of conversion.
Your performance in the GD and PI rounds is also crucial for the final shortlist. Therefore, it is important to perform your best at every stage of the process. The final shortlist is based on the cumulative scores of the NMAT exam, GD, and PI. It is also advisable to talk to the faculty and alumni to get a better understanding of the admission process and make an informed decision.
Colleges may call depending on numerous variables. IIMs rarely call candidates without a 95+ percentile. IIMs exclusively accept top academic and overall candidates. Other colleges like FMS, XL, SPJIMR, and MDI assess the candidate's whole profile, giving them a little edge. These institutions consider work experience, extracurriculars, and leadership skills in addition to academic performance.
Even after being accepted to a top college, a candidate's academic performance may affect their placements, which could damage their job chances. The only thing candidates can control is their CAT/XAT score. So they should try their best and then decide.
If you are interested in pursuing an MBA program, you should know that NMIMS University offers one of the best programs in the country.
