Admission to the university is straightforward, especially for those with strong academic records. The process involves multiple counseling rounds without interviews or tests, and admission can be secured in the first round. The total fee for four semesters is about 4 lakhs. Non-GATE students may qualify for a scholarship that includes a monthly stipend of 10,000 for two semesters. If they achieve over 80% in these semesters, they get an additional 10,000 for the remaining two semesters. GATE students receive a 5,000 stipend from Thapar University plus the GATE exam stipend. If a student gets placed, the company provides the stipend instead. The university boasts excellent placement opportunities, with nearly all students securing internships. Prominent recruiters include Intel, Siemens, STMicroelectronics, Philips, Stryker, and ARM. Intel recruited 8 students, offering a monthly stipend of ₹40,000 for internships lasting 11 to 12 months in Bangalore.
