SOIL Institute of Management is among the top 5 B-schools in Haryana as per the Collegedunia 2025 Management rankings. See what Uttkarsh Tiwari from PGDM (2023-25) has to say about SOIL Institute of Management
Uttkarsh found the student clubs to be very engaging: “ Overall campus experience was good and the clubs were very engaging. There were different clubs like sports, happy mind, guitar, singing, marketing and finance, so they provide a variety of exposure.” He adds, “...we get each and every opportunity like dropshipping events and many more.”
About the Hostels, he says, “Hostel facilities are not good at all. Rooms had facilities like AC, attached bathroom, and a study table. The food quality was very poor in the whole area.” However, he found the registration process easy, since the institute took care of the whole process. He adds, "It's expensive, like ₹80,000 for just 10 months. All PGs in the locality are the same price and they don’t offer good food. So, its better to take a flat with your friends.”

SOIL Institute of Management Admission Applications are now closed. The last date to apply for SOIL programs was 22 March 2025. Admission to SOIL is competitive and based on previous academic performance, entrance test scores, profile evaluation and personal interview.
SOIL follows a six-step process for admissions into its PGDM in Business Design program:
Students are required to provide the following information and documents in their application:
To submit the application, candidates must pay an application fee of INR 2,000.
SOIL Institute of Management shortlists candidates based on their overall profile, beyond just the academic scores. The primary aspects considered are: Leadership Potential, Academic Excellence, Extracurriculars and Intellectual Capacity.
The workshop is an activity-based session on the design thinking process. Along with this workshop being an assessment stage, SOIL Institute of Management views this as a learning opportunity for students. This workshop takes about half a day and involves sessions, teamwork and presentations.
The shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview with a faculty member and a senior member of the industry. In this 45-minute interview, students are asked questions about their aspirations, goals and professional/academic background. Students must carry all their original documents for verification at the interview venue.
Within 4 weeks of the interview, candidates receive an update on email. In some cases, a candidate may be invited for a second round of interview.
If admitted, a student must register for the program by paying an initial fee of INR 2.1 lakhs. Once this initial fee is paid, the student becomes eligible to apply for PGDM scholarships. The program office gets in touch with the student to discuss options.
Similar to the PGDM program, admission to the PGPM program is a multi-step process at SOIL Institute of Management.
Candidates must submit an online application on SOIL Institute of Management’s website. Every candidate must provide the following in their application:
To submit the application, candidates must pay an application fee of INR 2,000.
The GEPI process is conducted to assess the candidates beyond their academic performance. This process captures a candidate’s leadership, problem-solving and teamwork skills, along with providing an insight into the candidate’s program fit.
If a student hasn’t taken any MBA exam, they will need to appear for the SET. This is a 60-minute test designed to evaluate students in the following areas: Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Critical Thinking.
Within 4 weeks of completing steps 1-3, a candidate will receive an update on their email. If the admission committee is unsure of a candidate, they may invite the candidate for another interview.
A student is required to secure their place by paying an initial fee of INR 2 lakhs within 10 days of receiving the admission offer.
SOIL does not publicly release cutoffs for its PGDM in Business Design program. Further, there is no minimum score and sectional cutoffs set for admission in SOIL Institute of Management. There is no such thing as a best IIT as each IIT has its unique strengths and weaknesses. Here is how I grade the top engineering colleges in India
In reality, what matters more than the college and its brand name is the efforts you invest in making the most out of the resources offered by the college. Your attitude towards academics and passion for success is the driving fuel and the image of the college just adds to the processes.
During the orientation at IIT Madras, the professors will enlighten you about this college. You’ll be made familiar with the campus life and activities at IITM.
Other than that, you’ll meet your batchmates, and make some friends. Just like you, the other new students will be filled with excitement and anxiety. You and other new students will be addressed by the Dean and the Director, accompanied by other faculty members or senior students holding PORs.
The Saathi and MiTr stalls will be set up to help you and provide you with some booklets.
This question can only have a subjective answer. I have myself done my B.Tech EE from IIT Madras, but I would recommend you consider several factors before arriving at a decision-
Your subject of interest matters a lot, even more than your college. Make sure to select the branch that interests you. Take a good look at the curriculum and course offerings of both these options, and find out which of them aligns with your career/academic goals. Also consider the specialization opportunities offered by each option.
Look at the research interests and projects undertaken by faculty members of each program. Realize whose interests align with you the most. Getting into research work at UG level will only be beneficial for you. Take a visit to both the institutes or consult some seniors to find out which one offers better infrastructure, campus life and other facilities.
Personally speaking, I’ve had an excellent experience at the Electrical department of IIT Madras. So, if you don’t have a particular interest in CS, you may very well consider EE at IITM.
DoMS IIT Madras is the best option for MBA. The management faculty of the institute are highly experienced. Faculty-student ratio is 1:7. Other than faculties there are also TAs to help you with any problems. Due to the small batch size, every student gets the required attention from faculties.
IIT Madras MBA placements have been pretty good over the years. During the 2022 placement drive, a total of 61 students received placement offers. The average CTC was INR 16.66 LPA. For the top 10% of students, the average CTC was INR 21.62 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 25.30 LPA. IBM, Zycus, Amazon, etc. were the major recruiters that visited the placement drive.
Both IIT Madras Civil and BITS Hyderabad CSE are great subject options to pursue for students.
If you're considering pursuing an M.Tech in construction management, you might be wondering which institute is better between IIT Madras and IIT Delhi. According to my knowledge cutoff of 2021, IIT Madras has an edge over IIT Delhi for this program.
The reason behind this is that IIT Madras has strong ties with senior management offices of L&T and other major construction firms, which provides a great networking opportunity for students. While the quality of professors and curriculum may be subjective, the proximity of IIT Madras to these companies is not.
If you choose to study at IIT Madras, you can expect to be challenged to excel in your studies, as the program is demanding. However, this challenging curriculum is accompanied by excellent professors who can guide you through the course material. Additionally, IIT Madras has a beautiful campus that can enhance your overall experience as a student.
In summary, if you're looking for a program that can provide you with networking opportunities and excellent professors, IIT Madras is a great option to consider for your M.Tech in construction management.

You can compare the statistics with other options you have and draw a comparison between them.
My friend has enrolled himself for B.Sc. Data Science and Programming course from IIT M. He carefully accessed the course curriculum.
According to him, the course requires at least 4 to 6 hours of study each day.
One can not simply study it on the weekends and cope up. My friend has a tight working schedule, and therefore, he is considering leaving this course.
But if you can devote time for the course each day, then this course will definitely benefit you. The placement statistics are not very clear but the curriculum is rigorous and so you will learn new skills that will come handy during job search.
Both IIT Madras and IIT Bombay are well-recognized academic institutions in India and are ranked amongst the top Engineering institutions as well. The choice between IIT Madras and IIT Bombay depends on you and other factors like the field of study you opt for, location preference, research opportunities, campus facilities, and your personal choices.
However, being a student of IIT Madras I can vouch for it to be a better choice.
The best way is to break down various components and analyze each parameter individually.
