Booking a visitor hostel at IIIT Allahabad is simple. 

You are only required to send an email to the Deputy Registrar (Finance and Accounts) and put Caretaker Visitor Hostels to CC

The mail should follow the standard format for any official mail and should include your personal details. 

However, if you are a prospective student and are likely to take admission for any year, then stating relevant details about the same will be good too. Although learning new ways and adjusting to your surroundings is one of the biggest experiences you will ever have in your student life, the hostel facilities at IIIT Allahabad are quite worth everything.

It’s quite a big campus with impressive infrastructure. In my opinion, one of the best things that you can get here is internet services. There is unlimited access to the internet 24*7 in all corners of the campus as well as a hostel both through LAN and WiFi.

There is a total of 5 boys hostel and 3 girls hostel that ensure smooth accommodation of all the students of IIIT Allahabad. Although there’s little variety in the food available it is still not too bad. For sports and other related activities, there is an option of a swimming pool, badminton courts, squash, snooker, table tennis, lawn tennis, football ground to name a few.

The hostel rooms are quite spacious as compared to many other college hostels and they are properly ventilated and lit. There is a bed, a table, a chair, and one almirah provided in every room at the hostel.

Since it is a newly constructed campus, the bathrooms and other facilities are quite well maintained. Moreover, cleanliness and hygiene are also paid attention to and the management and the authorities take very good care about it.

Overall, there are very few issues and complaints that one might have throughout his stay at IIIT Allahabad.

You will find various opinions about the condition of the girl’s hostel in IIIT Allahabad. Following are some highlights of conditions faced by one of my friends who stayed there: 

• The condition of the girl’s hostel is quite good, as compared to other institutes. There are instances of encounters with lizards in the washroom, which makes some students get very scared instantly.
• For fresher, there are double occupancy rooms in a separate hostel. On average, 3 washrooms and 3 bathrooms are provided for 12 girls in the hostel.
• There is a terrace on the first floor of the girl’s hostel. A common room for table tennis and gym equipment is provided too in the hostel.
• The washrooms are washed daily and corridors are mopped once in a while. So, it can be concluded that good cleanliness is maintained, though it depends a lot on the residents.
• Not just lizards, but also rats and insects are often seen in the hostel sometimes.

These are some of the facts known about the girl’s hostel in IIIT Allahabad. Overall, it is considered to be decent, with the problem of lizards and insects sometimes.
