College wise - IIT Roorkee > IIM Bodh Gaya > IIM Amritsar I will chose IIT Roorkee due to thefollowing reasons:- Older IITs like Roorkee boast a longer legacy and are highly esteemed for imparting quality Management education. MBA started at IIT Roorkee in 1998 while both the IIM were established in 2015. IIT Roorkee has better infrastructure and has a bigger campus of 358.5 acres. IIT Roorkee is ranked 18th in the nirf ranking with IIM Amritsar at 51th and IIM Bodh Gaya at 53th. IIT Roorkee has an Average Package of 18.34 LPA with IIM Bodhgaya at 13.9 LPA and IIM Amritsar at 16.51 LPA.

Eligibility Criteria

Graduation with a CAT-2023 score or a professional qualification equivalent to that of a University degree recognized by UGC, in any discipline with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PD). Final-year students are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, provided they complete all requirements for the qualifying degree with minimum percentage and CGPA or its equivalent by the specified date that will be intimated later. The percentage will be considered based on aggregate marks/CGPA awarded in qualifying degree examination.

(IIT graduates (admitted through IIT-JEE) with a CGPA of 7.0 or above on 10 point scale are exempted from the requirement of CAT 2023.

Both institutions are well-recognized for their well-structured academic program, highly qualified and experienced faculty members, and excellent research facilities. However, the choice depends on you and your personal preference.

If I leave my biases towards Kashipur as a city aside. I would choose IIT Roorkee over IIM Kashipur.

IIT Roorkee has a bigger campus size of 358 acres compared to IIM Kashipur’s 200 acres.
MBA started at IIT Roorkee in 1998 while IIM Kashipur was established in 2011.
IIT Roorkee has an Average Package of 18.3LPA with IIM Kashipur at 15LPA.

Which college should I choose between IIT Roorkee and IIM Sirmaur for MBA?

I don’t even need to ponder over this question for a long time. The answer is very simple. You should choose IIT Roorkee over IIM Sirmaur for MBA. The reason being its new establishment. People don’t care if you are an IIM student unless you belong to the older ones. The new IIMs are yet to make a mark in the industry especially the likes of IIM Jammu and Sirmaur.

IIT Roorkee on the other hand is very good at placements and peer learning. Given the current situation of both institutes, IIT Roorkee is definitely the better option. The IIM tag offered by Sirmaur lacks credibility and even if it will be beneficial, it will be after some years and not right away.

Will I regret joining IIT Roorkee for MBA leaving IMT, IMI, TAPMI?

IIT Roorkee will never be an option that you’ll regret. Here are some reasons why getting an MBA from an IIT like IIT-R is considerably different from getting one from a business school like XIMB or Tapmi.

Infrastructure: Modern labs, classrooms, libraries, and other spaces were made available. Both the hostel's amenities and the meals at the mess were excellent. Students utilize bicycles to get to the department, which is around 500 meters from the dormitory.
Placements: 90% of the batch was placed. In 2023 the highest package was INR 27.94 LPA and the average package offered was 18.34 LPA. Top recruiters were KPMG India, Bristlecone, Cognizant, ICICI Bank, etc. There are student exchange programmes with some of the top universities around the world which also is an added perk of studying in this university.
Faculty: All the professors and assistant professors in the faculty were Ph.D. holders and had good acumen and knowledge.
