IIT Roorkee Course Admissions 2024: Eligibility, Selection Process, Dates

IIT Roorkee B.Tech & B.Arch Eligibility Criteria

10+2 in Science Stream from a reputed board with Mathematics & Physics as main subjects. Along with this institute considers JEE Advanced scores. The final IIT Roorkee admission is based upon JoSAA Counselling. 

IIT Roorkee B.Tech & B.Arch Selection Criteria

• Candidates need to appear for JEE Advanced entrance exam.
• Eligible candidates must register for JoSSA through which counselling takes place.
• Opening and Closing rank of each specialization is released by JoSAA in different rounds. 
• Based on minimum rank cutoff, IIT Roorkee confirms admission of eligible candidates.

IIT Roorkee BTech Cutoff 2023 (Expected)

IIT Roorkee BTech Cutoff 2023 will be released soon by JoSAA. Admissions will be granted on the basis of cutoff marks for respective specialization of the BTech program. The cutoff depends on various factors such as rank secured in the JEE Advanced examination, availability of seats, choice filling, reservation criteria, etc. The expected JEE Advanced cutoff 2023 for general category candidates based on JoSAA 2022 round 1 and round 6 closing ranks is tabulated below:

The admission to M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.U.R.P. is based upon the GATE score of the candidates. Admission is offered to full time sponsored and part time sponsored candidates also. The minimum duration of all academic programmes would be four semesters for Full-Time candidates and six semesters for Part-Time candidates. 

The final IIT Roorkee M.Tech admission is provided on the basis of Common Offer Acceptance Portal, COAP Counselling. 

IIT Roorkee M.Tech/ M.Arch/ MURP Eligibility:

• M.Tech: Minimum 60% marks are required in Bachelor's degree or 6 CGPA on a 10 point scale. For SC/ST/PD category candidates 55% marks or 5.50 CGPA is required. 
• M.Arch: B.Arch or its equivalent degree from a recognized university.
• M.U.R.P: B.Arch (or its equivalent) or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engg./B.Planning from a recognized University.

The above-mentioned eligibility conditions are applicable to all regular, full-time sponsored and part-time sponsored candidates. 

• Final year students who will be completing all the requirements of their qualifying examination including back paper (s) / supplementary(ies) before the date of registration are also eligible to apply for IIT Roorkee admission 2023. 
• Along with the above-mentioned eligibility, candidates also need a valid GATE score to be eligible for admission to M.Tech/M.Arch/M.U.R.P. 
• Direct admission without GATE will be offered to IIT graduates with a minimum CGPA of 8.00 on a 10 point scale.

IIT Roorkee M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.U.R.P. Selection Criteria: 

• GATE qualified Candidates: are selected based upon valid normalized GATE marks only.
• Non-GATE Candidates: Regular B.Tech degree holders from IITs without a GATE score must have a CGPA greater than or equal to 8.
• Sponsored Candidates: Interview / Written Test & Relevant experience is required for sponsored candidates with full-time and part-time work experience.

Application Fee

IIT Roorkee MBA program is a 2 year full time course divided into 8 terms. The institute is ranked at 35 by Business Today for its MBA program and at 48 by the Economics Times. The IIT Roorkee CAT cutoff goes around 94 percentile.

IIT Roorkee MBA Eligibility

• Graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (55% for SC/ST/PD) and have appeared for the CAT exam.
• Final-year students are also eligible to apply if they have appeared for the CAT exam.
• IIT graduates (admitted through IIT-JEE) with a CGPA of 7.0 or above can also apply and they will be exempted from the requirement of CAT 2022.

IIT Roorkee MBA Selection Criteria

The selection criteria mentioned below are followed for IIT Roorkee MBA admission

• CAT Score: 60%
• Personal Interview: 30%
• Work Experience: 10%
• (2 marks for completion of each year)
• IIT graduates with JEE advanced are selected 100% on the basis of PI.
• Female candidates are given 10% relaxation for WAT and Personal Interviews.
• JEE-qualified IIT graduates with CGPA between 7 and above but less than 8 are exempted from CAT and will be directly called for PI/WAT
• JEE-qualified IIT graduates with CGPA of 8 and above will be offered direct admission. 

IIT Roorkee MBA Placement Details

IIT Roorkee MBA placements 2023 have been concluded with a 100% placement rate. More than 50 recruiters visited the campus and made offers to 64 students. IIT Roorkee's average package for MBA stood at INR 18.34 LPA and IIT Roorkee's highest package stood at INR 27.94 LPA. Most of the students were placed in the Operations, IT & Analytics domain with an average package of INR 19.39 LPA. Some of the top recruiters for the MBA placements were Adani, Bank of America, Barclays, Cognizant, EXL, Deloitte, EY, Godrej, HCL, IBM, Hero, etc.

IIT Roorkee offers M.Des (Industrial Design) and MIM programs at the PG level for a duration of two years. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institute. For M.Des admissions at IIT Roorkee, candidates must appar for the CEED entrance examination, while selection for MIM will be based on the GD/PI conducted by the institute.

IIT Roorkee MDes & MIM Eligibility Criteria

M.Des. (Industrial Design): Any candidate who has completed a Four-year graduate degree in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects in 10+2 and with a valid CEED/ GATE score.

MIM (Masters in Innovation Management): Any candidate who has completed a graduate degree in any discipline with post-degree experience of 5 years with a valid CAT/ GMAT/ GATE score.

IIT Roorkee MDes & MIM Selection Criteria

M.Des. (Industrial Design): Aptitude Test and Personal Interview.

MIM (Masters in Innovation Management): Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

The application fee to be paid for the MDes and MIM program is non-refundable in nature. The fee can be paid via Net banking/ Debit Card/ Credit Card. The fee will not be accepted through any other mode. The charges is as follows:

• SC/ ST/ PD: INR 250

IIT Roorkee offers a two-year M.Sc program in five specializations, namely, Economics, Applied Geology, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. For admission to the M.Sc program at IIT Roorkee, candidates need to appear for the JAM entrance examination. 

IIT Roorkee M.Sc Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates should have at least 55% marks or CGPA 5.5 in Bachelor's degree (For SC/ST/PwD candidates minimum of 50% or CGPA 5.0 is required).
• Candidates should qualify the IIT JAM examination.
• Foreign nationals should have an Indian degree and must comply with IIT Roorke's admission policy. 

IIT Roorkee M.Sc Selection Criteria

The selection of the candidates is done through JOAPS counseling. Seats are allocated on the basis of scores obtained in the JAM entrance test, choice filling, availability of seats, categories, and other factors.

IIT Roorkee M.Sc Application Process

• Visit the official JOAPS website
• Register by entering all the required details like the Candidate's Name, Email ID, mobile number, qualification, etc. 
• After registration, candidates will receive the Enrollment ID 
• Login to the JOAPS portal using Enrollment ID and password. 
• Fill the Application form, enter the number of papers and city preferences
• Upload scanned images of photograph and signature and SC/ST/PwD certificate (if applicable).
• Pay the online application fee and submit the IIT JAM application form. 

IIT Roorkee MSc Seats 2023

IIT Roorkee M.Sc Cutoff 2023 (Expected)

The table below shows the round-wise expected cutoff of IIT JAM 2023 for admission to the IIT Roorkee M.Sc program. 

IIT Roorkee offers a five-year-long Integrated M.Sc (B.Sc+M.Sc) program in three specializations, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. On successful completion of the program, students will earn a degree in both B.Sc and M.Sc. For admission to the program, candidates need to appear for JEE Advanced. 

IIT Roorkee Integrated M.Sc Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to the Integrated M.Sc (B.Sc+M.Sc) program at IIT Roorkee, candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks from a recognized board of education.

IIT Roorkee Integrated M.Sc Selection Criteria

The selection of the candidates is based on the rank in JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counseling. Seats are allocated on the basis of rank in JEE Advanced, availability of seats, categories, and other factors.

IIT Roorkee Integrated M.Sc Cutoff 2023 (Expected)

IIT Roorkee offers a one-year PG Diploma for sponsored candidates in three specializations, namely, Hydrology, Irrigation Water Management, and Water Resouces Development. For admission to the program, candidates need to appear for the GATE entrance examination.

IIT Roorkee PG Diploma Eligibility Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree with Hydrology or M.Sc./M.Tech. from a relevant course.

Or

• M.Sc. in Statistics or Mathematics with Physics and Mathematics at Bachelor’s level.

Or

• AMIE candidates with a B.Sc. or diploma who have completed Sections A and B Examinations of the Institution of Engineers are also eligible.
• Candidates from the general category must have completed graduation minimum with an aggregate of 67.5% marks.
• Candidates from SC/ ST/ PwD category must have completed graduation minimum with an aggregate of 55% marks.

IIT Roorkee PG Diploma Selection Criteria

Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of academic performance and the GATE cutoff set by the institute. Selection of the candidates will be done through COAP counseling. Seats are allocated on the basis of GATE scores, choice filling, availability of seats, categories, and other factors.

IIT Roorkee PG Diploma Application Process

• Visit IIT Roorkee’s official website https://iitr.ac.in/ and click on ‘Admission’.
• Next, click on the ‘PG’ tab and then click on ‘One-year Diploma’.
• The candidate will be redirected to a page where he/she must click on the ‘New User Sign Up Here’ button to register.
• Now, register by entering general details.
• After registering, log in with your credentials.
• Now fill the application form with your personal details, educational details, and other information carefully.
• Then upload scanned documents like the candidate’s photograph and signature.
• Lastly, pay the application fee and submit the application form.

IIT Roorkee offers PhD program in Science, Engineering & Technology, Management Studies, and Architecture & Planning. The candidates with 60% aggregate marks in Masters are eligible to apply for the further selection process.

IIT Roorkee PhD Eligibility Criteria

• Master’s degree in relevant discipline with 60% marks (55% for reserved categories)
• Valid GATE/ JRF/GPAT/UGC NET score
• Bachelors or Masters from IITs with a CGPA 8.0 and above on 10 point scale, are exempted from the requirement of GATE / GPAT / JRF /NET.

IIT Roorkee Selection Criteria

• Based on the performance in the qualifying entrance exam, shortlisted candidates are called for an interview.
• Admission is offered based upon merit and PI.
