6.1 How to Apply?
Calcutta University M.Sc Course Highlights
- The college offers a Master of Sciences (MSc) in various fields.
- It is a 2-year full-time course which takes place in offline mode.
- The eligibility for the same is based on merit. The candidates require a minimum of 55 percent in the b.sc graduation course except for the MSc in agriculture, which requires an entrance exam.
- It offers MSc in various fields ranging from agriculture, mathematics, physics, psychology, genetics and plant breeding, and numerous others.
- For any merit-based or entrance-based course, 80 percent of seats are reserved for Calcutta university students, and 20 percent are available for non-CU students.

An application fee of rupees 100 for open category students and rupees 50 for reserved category is charged. This year no application fee is being charged by the university. The fee structure is per semester.

Calcutta University M.Sc Eligibility Criteria
- The graduates’ candidates must have a BSc degree for a recognized college.
- At least 55 percent marks in BSc/BA Hons are required to get admission into the college MSc courses.
- The degree must be in relevant disciplines to be eligible for the MSc program.
- Admissions in MSc agriculture are entrance-based. This year no entrance exam was held.
- Twenty-two percent is reserved SC and 6 percent for ST. The SC/ST students must have 25 percent marks in their graduation to be eligible.
Calcutta University M.Sc Admission Criteria
- The admission criteria are strictly merit-based.
- 8% of seats are reserved for only CU students and are known as part A. The rest 20% is for non-CU students, referred to as part B.
- Selection in each course may be run simultaneously from two merit lists, Part A and Part B. Selection is strictly in order of merit.
- For the merit list, 60% weightage is given to marks scored in b. SC honors and 40% spends on the marks in the two general subjects.
- 22% is reserved SC and 6% for ST. The SC/ST students must have 25% marks to be eligible.
