NEET Result 2023: Calculation of Scores
With the help of NEET Answer Key, candidates can calculate their expected scores and ranks. They can tally their answers with those given in the answer key before the NTA NEET Result is released. The marking scheme followed by NTA in NEET 2023 is given below-
- For every correct answer, 4 marks are rewarded.
- For marking the wrong option, -1 is deducted as a penalty.
- No mark is deducted for un-attempted questions and marking more than 1 option.
- Total Marks = 180 MCQs X 4 = 720 Marks

NEET Bonus Marks 2023
NEET Bonus Marks 2023 are the marks awarded by NTA to every candidate in case of discrepancy in the answer key and question paper. NEET Result 2023 will be released soon and the details of bonus marks awarded will also be provided. In the provisional answer key released by NTA, some questions are marked with option 5 as the correct answer while there are only 4 options to choose from. For such questions, NTA will award 4 marks to each and every candidate. The situations where NTA awards NEET bonus marks are:
- If two or more answer choices are correct, then those who have marked either of the choices get full marks.
- If none of the answer choices is correct, all candidates get full marks irrespective of whether they attempt the question or not.
- If a question is incorrect, all candidates get 4 marks.
How NEET Percentile is Calculated?
The percentile score will be calculated based on the candidate’s AIR and its relative position compared to the rank holders. The NEET Percentile is calculated using the given formula:
NEET Result 2023: Merit List
NEET Merit List will be prepared on the basis of NEET 2023 Results. No category-wise merit list will be declared. There will be only a centralized merit list for all the NEET 2023 qualified candidates based on which 15% All India Quota seats counselling will be conducted. States will prepare their own merit list based on AIR and the category of the candidate.
Tie Breaker Rule in NEET Result (Revised)
A tie occurs when two or more candidates score the same marks. In that case, the authorities apply the tie-breaking rules to decide the rank. The tie-breaking method is mentioned below.
- Biology Marks – Candidates with higher marks secured in Biology will be preferred over other candidates with the same marks.
- Chemistry Marks – If the biology marks criteria do not work and tie still remains then candidates with higher marks in chemistry will be preferred.
- Physics Marks- Candidates with higher scores in Physics are given a higher AIR.
- Less Incorrect Questions – If the above 2 methods are able to break the tie then the 3rd method is used where candidates with less number of wrong answers will be taken into consideration over other candidates. The sectional order of priority is Biology>Chemistry>Physics.
Rechecking of NEET 2023 Result
NTA does not provide any such facility. No candidate can apply for rechecking or revaluation or results. Candidates were provided with the facility of challenging the OMR sheets and Answer sheets. After the challenge is over, the authority releases the result which is final.

The validity of NEET 2023 Result is only for the current academic session. After qualifying NEET candidates will become eligible for admission in the following:

NEET 2023 Counselling
Candidates who qualify NEET 2023 and whose names appear in the final merit list will be eligible for NEET Counselling. The counselling for 15% AIQ seats and seats in Deemed and Central Universities will be conducted by MCC and the counselling process for admission in 85% State quota seats will be conducted by respective state authorities.
Counselling for 15% All India Quota
MCC conducts the Counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats. Also, admission in deemed, central, state universities candidates can participate in 15% AIQ counselling.
- Seats of ESIC and AFMC, BHU & AMU will also be filled in under 15% AIQ counselling.
- Participating in AIQ seats does not mean that a candidate cannot participate in state counselling. Candidates are allowed to participate in both types of counselling processes.
- It is expected that MCC will start the AIQ counselling in the month of September 2023.
Counselling for 85% State Quota Seats
For admission in state quota states, candidates will have to apply on the official webiste of conducting body responsbile for conducting the cousnelling.
- Candidates need to register on their concerned state’s counselling websites.
- Counselling will be conducted on the basis of the candidate’s rank in the state merit list.
- Various rounds will be conducted and after each round NEET cut off will be released.
