Dr. M. K Sandhya is an Assistant Professor in the Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College (MSEC) Chennai. She is a professor in the Computer Science and Engineering department in MSEC. She received her Ph.D under the faculty of Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University in 2014. She has 17 years of teaching and 7 years of research experience. Her research interests are wireless sensor networks, mobile computing, cryptography or network security, and Machine Learning.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the Students in MSEC?

“To teach and mentor students and guide them in projects are my roles on campus”

My primary responsibility is to teach and mentor pupils. We give counseling and guidance for Projects for pupils. Thus, they become well known in the Paper Publications

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with students and fellow faculty?

“Implement trust and teamwork on campus to establish healthy relationships”

We give an environment for healthy relationships with students and fellow faculty members. Our campus followsTrust and Teamwork in each activity. It promotes healthy relationships among faculty and students. 

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

“Provide internships, projects, and experiential learning for pupils

We achieve practical approaches in subjects through experiential learning. Students get internships (100%), and live projects from industries through practical works. Our industry 

promotes practical knowledge and helps to meet the challenges in the industries. Industrial visits, glectures, seminars and workshops by industrial experts are given to pupils. 

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

“Achieve excellence programs, empowerment, mentoring and counseling are available to students”

There are a lot of events conducted on campus for the students to hone their technical and soft skills. One such unique event is E3 Enrichment Enhancement and Empowerment in which students are made to present papers and Project Plans. It helps them improve technical expertise and hone their presentation skills. We give an Achieve Excellence Programme to encourage and motivate the high performing students to excel in all spheres. Mentoring and Counseling is also provided to encourage and uplift the weaker students to improve their academic performance and personal guidance to develop their lifestyle and career.

How do you strategize the curriculum in MSEC and get updated to make it befitting for the students?

“Revise the curriculum every four years for students”

We follow the curriculum offered by Anna University. It is revised every 4 years. So, students need to study unique subjects.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from campus?

“Training and career guidance are given to the students”

We hold an excellent Placement Record with more than 95% of the students placed.The remaining students pursue higher studies in reputed institutions in India and abroad. Our placement Cell provides the necessary training for career guidance of pupils. 

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

“Sports, cultural fests and other activities are given to students”

We conduct extra curricular activities like cultural activities, and sports for students. They are encouraged to enhance the skills of the students. 

How does the curriculum of your department/college ensure the best practice of the industry?

“Internships, seminars, workshops and industrial visits are available to students”

Our students do internships, project work, field work and industrial visits. We have industrial collaborations (MoU) with reputed industries, and providing the students to learn the best practices of the industries. Additionally, the experts from industries provide their valuable expertise to students for getting through guest lectures, seminars, and workshops. 

How does the college enhance the skills of faculty and prepare them according to the industry standards?

“Encourage faculties to promote research and attend faculty development programs”

Our Institution enhances the skills of the faculty by encouraging them to do PhD to promote research. We motivate them to attend many faculty development programmes in the latest technologies. All these are conducted by reputed institutions and industries.
