What are your roles and responsibilities?

"To take care of their needs and solve their problems on time"

Being the Head of the Department, I am responsible for taking care of our department's students and faculty. Our institute is providing new possibilities and technologies as well as seeking solutions to all the difficulties that teachers confront also comes as part of my duty.


How do you maintain healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

"By ensuring the ambiance of positivity, trust and open communication"

We seek to develop good relationships with our students by taking care of their interests, keeping a positive attitude while interacting with them and lastly by making learning entertaining. We also tend to maintain a pleasant relationship with teachers through open interaction with them about their personal life, and by developing reciprocal trust.


How do you put in place a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?

"We try to include practicals in all the possible areas"

Bringing in a practical approach towards subjects and making them industry-oriented helps us to be on the same page because industry requirements change frequently. For this, we strive to include practical learning in as many areas as feasible and keep us updated with the latest industrial happenings.


Which best practices are offered by the department to the students to help them gain necessary skills?

"We conduct a wide range of experiments to strengthen subject knowledge of students"

Our department's main objective is to work for the growth of our students by incorporating a practical approach that includes enjoyable sessions and diverse activities. Theoretical lectures are backed by the numerous experiments in the laboratory. To help our students link theoretical concepts while performing experiments, we have a very skilled Technical Assistant in the Laboratory.


How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

"We include the latest programs and guest sessions as and when required"

We are affiliated with JUT University, hence we follow the curriculum designed by them. But for the benefit of our students and to adjust to their individual needs, we conduct guest lecturers to provide them with the latest information about the industry and to pique their interest in it.


What are your views on the placements and higher education of students from your department?

"We mentor our students for both the things using different approaches"

We constantly encourage our students to work hard for higher education, be it in India or abroad. We have recently been able to contact our alumni who have pursued higher education in foreign institutes and have asked them to mentor our pupils. Additionally, we provide guidance and mentoring to them for all choice-based career options like Placements, and Entrepreneurship. Lastly, we offer every kind of possible support to students who want to prepare for the GATE exams.

How do you guide your student to cope with this competitive world?

"By believing in their capabilities and encouraging them to do better than yesterday"

We neither put any pressure on our students nor do we compare them with each other. Instead, we always encourage them to do their best, keep updating themselves along with evolving technology and be honest with themselves. We also provide the necessary support in the form of extra classes (for preparation for competitive exams) and guidance as per the requirements of the industry. 


What extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of the students?

"We offer them programs like case studies, seminars, NCC and NSS"

Co-curricular activities like seminars and case study-based learning sessions are offered to our students to familiarise them with real-world situations. We also conduct programs like NSS and NCC for the social welfare of society and to make our students live disciplined life.


What challenges have you been facing to uplift the education quality of your department?

"Retaining student's interest for a subject and developing their basic skills"

The greatest problem we confront in improving the quality of education is sustaining students' interest in line with continuously changing technology and developing the basic skills of problem-solving and critical thinking in them. 


How does the curriculum of your department ensure the best practices of the industry?

"It is backed by practical learning and we also take suggestions from students"

Practical learning has been included into the curriculum to provide students with a thorough understanding of the topics being taught. Our department also takes feedback from the students and alumni to deliver them the best education as per today's industry standards.


How does your department enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them as per industry standards?

"We cheer them to take part in FDPs, guest sessions and workshops"

We regularly encourage our professors to participate in Faculty Improvement Programs, guest lectures and workshops to gain a deeper understanding of the industry demands. And we also invite industry experts of various domains to take guest lectures for the benefit of our students.


What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to teach the students?

"To create a supportive learning ambiance, we organize conferences and workshops"

We conduct conferences, workshops, guest lectures ( by the professors of BIT Mesra, IIT Dhanbad, etc.), webinars, seminars and annual sports, etc. in which our students get the opportunity to interact with professors and students from other colleges. All this creates a very healthy competitive environment. 


What do you see as the department’s greatest strengths?

"Our main pillar of strength is our faculty"

Our department's biggest strength is our faculty ( who all are professionally qualified and hold extensive teaching experience) willingness to work together and aid one another whenever required. To improve our relationships with them, we frequently organize pleasant activities and also celebrate festivals together.

What valuable advice would you like to give to the students to have a prosperous career ahead?

"Focus on your strengths, stay dedicated and make society a good place for others"

My advice to students would be to stay ahead of the curve and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Above all, be a nice person and contribute to making the world a better place for everyone. They need to concentrate on their strength, vision and develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
