Details about GMAT Foundations of Math, 7th Edition
The content and examples are mostly the same as the previous version. However, many of the topics/points have been expanded upon to emphasize certain aspects and to focus attention on the most common questions. The books no longer mention an edition. There is no reference to the 2019 th or 7th Edition anywhere. The changes made from the previous version are:
- Overall, cut verbal content by 17% and Quant by 30% of page volume
- Certain topics/chapters have been rearranged among the books.
- The sequence of topics also changed, e.g. Geometry now goes last and Number properties before Geometry.
- Harder questions have been simplified
- Quant problem sets now have questions with answer choices.
- The guides no longer suggest solving some of the questions AFTER finishing all guides.
- Questions introduced to some of the topics/chapters that previously had no practice questions
- DS strategies have been moved up earlier in the book
- Additional practice questions included such as Repeating/terminating decimals in DFP's, Extra strategies in Algebra, DS Word Problems in WP Book, the additional GMAT geometry syllabus and geometry DS chapter/practice, additional SC chapter at the end
- Removed the symbol/logic shorthand table that was recommending certain symbols
- Removed wrong answer analysis chapter
There are not much differences in terms of the content if compared to the previous version. An updated version is always prepared keeping in mind the needs of the candidates. The table here lists the differences between the 6th Edition and the 7th Edition.
Why to buy Manhattan Prep's "GMAT Foundations of Math, 7th Edition
If the candidate has the previous edition, this edition will read very familiar as the structure, chapters, most examples and exercises are the same. However, one important change is that this book has expanded points. If you are re-taking and reviewing the material again and have 8 weeks, it is a good idea to pick up this edition. Candidates looking at a very high GMAT Math score will prefer this version as it has more details compared to the previous one. The book provides the ideology and the basics to solve the problems.
