The argument claims that as the violence in movies increases, so do the crime rates in the cities. It positively assumes that, lately, the number of movies that honor violence is increasing, and therefore, the crimes in the cities are also increasing. Another assumption present in this argument is that movies that commend violence have a great impact on the minds of their viewers. What could support this assumption is to analyze the statistics, i.e, by considering the reported crimes during a timeframe when no such films were released compared to when a large proportion of the same was released. A solid positive or absence of a relationship between these assumptions thereof could throw light into this supposition. In any case, it could have been that the number of revealed crimes differs every once in a while due to various elements like the political and financial circumstances of the period. As the number of reported crimes changes, an unambiguous extrapolation can't be made.

Secondly, the argument presents that a censor board that censors only some movies needs to be settled. It is unclear with regards to who will choose which all films would go under this classification. It is possible that another board would be set up to choose which all films would be censored in any case. In such a case, vested interests from several parties would come into the picture and the movie would need to be altered in a way that would suit specific people's preferences. Also, the meaning of violence differs from person to person. Normally, what is brutal for one individual may not be so for another, for the capacity to bear action and blood is particular and differ with demographics- be it age, sex, or race.

Thirdly, the author proposes a solution, to restrict admission to just the individuals who are 21 or older. The age of being considered an adult, the legal age for drinking, driving, the age of consent, etc changes from country to country. Such constraints have been set on the community after careful investigation and after conducting surveys and gathering data that make compelling arguments for such reasonable restrictions to be set on them. It is true that it could be the teenagers or younger generation who are most influenced by violence.

Furthermore, in this age and day, when data and movies are just one click away on the internet, aside from diminishing profits for the movie producers by reducing the movie-going audiences (of which these teens form a huge part) it won't be that compelling. The potential criminals could watch any movie without any restriction, thus, proving the plan ineffective.

In conclusion, the author makes certain unjustified suspicions and neglects to present evidence to support them. Also, there are some defects in logical reasoning. Therefore, the argument is inadequately substantiated and unconvincing.
