Is it wise to leave an SBI PO job for an MBA from SCMHRD?

SS
Somdatta Sen Posted On : June 15th, 2023
MBA from Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (2018)

It is entirely dependent on your job goals. Without assessing the benefits and drawbacks as well as your priorities, no decision may be wise or foolish.

Advantages of becoming an SBI PO:

  • CTC of around 11 lakhs in Mumbai, and 8.5 lakhs in rural/semi-urban areas.
  • Job safety.
  • Posting in your neighborhood.
  • There are numerous options to work in diverse roles such as Treasury, International Banking, and international postings.

Cons of working as an SBI PO:

  • Two years of probation. You will be in training during this period and will not be assigned a role until you are confirmed. So, even after two years of experience, you don't have anything to show.
  • For at least three years after joining, rural/semi-urban postings are required.
  • Branch offices are overcrowded, and employees have few workplace amenities.

Advantages of pursuing an MBA:

  • A fantastic chance for lifelong learning.
  • You can create a fantastic network of like-minded experts.
  • A career change in the direction you desire to take your career.
  • CTC of nearly 13 lakhs (SCMHRD average).
  • There is no job security, but there are opportunities for advancement.

Cons of pursuing an MBA:

  • The cost of education debt.
  • Cost of opportunity.

It is up to you to decide whether it is a sensible move to leave your SBI PO job for an MBA from SCMHRD based on your priorities. You might even try this career while continuing to prepare for a better college or a 1-year MBA school if you are eligible to reduce opportunity costs.

Will there be an upgrade to PGDM full-time in IMT Ghaziabad if we get shortlisted for the PGDM DCP program

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : May 26th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

So, at first, they might tell you that the upgrade is not possible and you have to study the degree according to the preferences put by you in the application form. Still, I have seen students change their programs after getting admission into the DCP program. This also depends on how many students are waitlisted for the courses that you wish to go for. Try mailing the admission department about the issue and that you want to change your course so that your seat acceptance fee can be adjusted towards the course.

Does FMS Delhi provide an MBA in the IB stream?

CB
Chitra Basu Posted On : May 9th, 2023
MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (2018)

The only degree offered by FMS (Faculty Of Management Studies) is an MBA (Master of Business Administration).

Your degree, or any other official college document, does not and will not include any reference to a specialization. Your Major and Minor, which are both valid for internal processes, are based on the Elective subjects (that you choose in your second year of the course) from the different streams available to you.

At this time, there are no electives that are centered on the IB (International Business), although there are some electives like International Financial Management and International Business Strategy that do not mean you will be offered an MBA IB degree.

What is the best option for an MBA in finance for the CFA level 2 candidate between SPJIMR, Mumbai and IIFT, Delhi?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : April 28th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

I believe IIFT offers an MBA only in International Business. It is a government institute and has a brand.

Mumbai-based SPJIMR is a top business school. The institute provides several management programs, including a two-year full-time MBA in Finance. SPJIMR's MBA Finance program teaches students finance fundamentals and career skills. Students learn real-world problem-solving abilities through classroom lectures, case studies, and simulations.

However, for MBA in Finance you should go for SPJIMR. It is in the same league as IIFT and also has the same advantage in terms of location.

How is BIMTech (Birla Institute of Management) for doing a MBA?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : April 18th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

The most important factor a student opting for an MBA should be considering is placements. As long as the placements are good, and the college offer a decent package, then other things are secondary. But apart from this, the other factors to be observed are internship, exposure and skill-development.

BIMTECH facilitates and accomplishes all these factors, and so is a strong option for someone looking to do their MBA.

Which one is better, IMT Ghaziabad (marketing) or SCMHRD (business analytics)?

SJ
Sidhharth Jain Posted On : February 16th, 2023
PGDM in Finance, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2019)

In a post-graduation program in management, IMT Ghaziabad is generally considered to be a better-known and recognized brand than SCMHRD (Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development). This is due to a number of factors, such as the institute's reputation for providing students with a strong foundation in management through its curriculum, industry-relevant courses, and practical training. Additionally, the institute's alumni network of industry leaders can help students to secure internships and job opportunities post-graduation.

IMT Ghaziabad is particularly well-known for its marketing program, which is considered to be one of the best in the country. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of marketing, such as consumer behavior, market research, and branding. Additionally, the institute's focus on providing students with practical training through internships, industry projects, and case studies, helps students to develop the skills and knowledge needed to excel in a career in marketing.

On the other hand, SCMHRD also offers a strong program in management, but it might not be as recognized as IMT Ghaziabad, specifically in Marketing. Additionally, SCMHRD offers a course in Business Analytics which is considered a niche course, and it's not as widely offered as Marketing at different B-schools.

It's important to research the different options available and weigh the pros and cons of each institute. Researching the institute's curriculum, faculty, and alumni network, as well as speaking to current students and alumni can help you to make an informed decision. Additionally, it would be a good idea to seek the opinion of professionals in the field you are interested in, as they can provide valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of different career paths. It's also important for you to decide whether you want to join a niche course that you are passionate about or a more general one.
