  • Academic: This is the major criterion for admission. It includes GMAT scores, graduation marks, and class 12 marks. You are assessed on your capability to handle the rigor and face tough competition. There is no minimum percentage or GMAT cut off but one is expected to score above-average marks in order to get shortlisted for admission. GMAT score should preferably be 700+.
  • Work experience: ISB Hyderabad requires a minimum of 2 years of work experience. However more than the experience it considers your achievement and the responsibilities you handled in your company.
  • Personal attribute: ISB Hyderabad focuses a lot on one’s personal attributes like contributions to society, extracurricular background, personal interests, and involvement in sports. These diversity factors in your profile are like the cherry on the cake.

I currently have a salary of 25L as a product manager. Is it worth it doing an MBA further at ISB, Hyderabad or in US universities? I want to do entrepreneurship, and a MBA for networking

Since your main goal is to grow a stronger network, considering US universities is of no use. However, if you are okay with developing international networks US universities are a viable option.

Comparing ISB Hyderabad with a US university is a lengthy discussion. Your choice should depend on whether you are planning to settle abroad or settle within India. If your ultimate goal is settling abroad, US universities should be your only option.

If we compare the pay structure, the average package offered at ISB Hyderabad is nearly the same as your current salary whereas US universities offer 7 times better salaries.

Both options require a lot of effort from the initial stage. To get into either, you need a spectacular profile and an impactful application strategy.

Do you need coaching for GMAT or one can excel it with self study for admission in India (ISB Hyderabad and other top colleges)?

PGP from Indian School of Business (Graduated 2017

I do agree that coaching makes the preparation journey a whole lot easier and smooth. It's a necessity in case you come from a non-Engineering or non-Mathematics background. Moreover the GMAT exam is all about the strategic approach at which the coaching institutes excel at. Their easy yet effective teaching methodology saves your time and reduces your stress considerably.

One of my friends with a non-engineering/non-mathematics background got offers from 3 International B Schools. However he was prepared for GMAT only after his office hours and yet got the offers. Still he claims that the stress and time invested would have been considerably less had he joined a coaching Institute.

Since you are targeting the top B Schools let me tell you that GMAT is just a stepping stone. Your application is a much more impactful criteria as it comprises your career and MBA essays.

Whatever route you choose, remember persistence is the only way you will get through.

Is it necessary to be sponsored by the company to get enrolled in CBA (Certificate program in business analytics) offered by ISB Hyderabad?

SM
Shraiya Malik Posted On : February 8th, 2023
Studied at Indian School of Business (Graduated 2018)

No, it’s not necessarily sponsored by your company in order to get enrolled in the Certificate Program in Business Analytics offered by IBS Hyderabad. In case you are not sponsored, all you have to do is finance the program on your own. So the issue lies in financing and not getting a sponsorship.

However, you might need your company's approval for pursuing the course as the course requires 6 visits (once in 2 months). These visits last for 5 days so you have to take frequent leaves from your company. If you are confident that taking such leaves won’t be an issue you can get away with an approval. However if taking such leaves becomes an issue, you should inform your company regarding the program beforehand so that they can easily grant you the necessary permission.

THE CBA program in ISB Hyderabad just requires the salary slip of the last two months as proof of your employment. They do ask for the No-Objection letter from the company but if anyone fails to produce it, it’s not a big issue.

Which MBA is better, an online MBA from the University of Bradford for £17000 or a part time MBA (PGP Pro) from ISB, Hyderabad at double the price?

AZ
Asif Zafar Posted On : February 8th, 2023
MBA from Indian School of Business (2020

Whenever you are in a dilemma of choosing an MBA program you need to consider 2 very important things.

  • MBA does not just mean learning the curriculum, it has a higher picture that includes; the tag attached, the alumni network you get access to, etc
  • Another major thing to consider is the cost-benefit analysis. Will the high fees you spend bring back favorable results?

Once you have done this basic analysis, go on and choose an MBA program that suits your needs best.

Your question is regarding an online MBA from the University of Bradford. One thing you need to know is that no matter how good the university is, an online MBA is not as impactful as an offline MBA. The lack of contact hours, peer learning, and the network does not do justice to the MBA program.

ISB Hyderabad on the other hand is a recognized brand and its global rankings are a testament to its worth and brand. ISB is ranked 44th best program in the list of top 100 global MBAs (FT Rankings). Not many MBA programs can match that level let alone online programs.

The most important thing to consider is the cost analysis benefit and the quality of learning rendered by both programs.

Why are IIMs more popular than ISB Hyderabad among Indian households?

NR
Neha Reddy Posted On : February 8th, 2023
PGP in Management from Indian School of Business (Graduated 2018)

There are many major reasons why ISB Hyderabad is not as popular as IIMs among Indian households. Some of them include

  • ISB Hyderabad is a private non-AICTE affiliated institute that functions under a totally different model.
  • Owing to its hefty fees(around 30+ Lakhs), it's almost inaccessible to an average Indian.
  • The batch size is huge becoming a major obstacle during placements
  • The 1-year program fails to provide in-depth exposure and is just a source of Certificates and a brand tag.
  • It does not provide International placements to the majority of students who do not belong to the elite class.

All these reasons are strong enough to persuade one against joining ISB Hyderabad and is thus not much popular among Indian households.

The reason why IIMs are popular in contrast to ISB Hyderabad are

  • Provided jobs similar in nature to the ones provided by ISB Hyderabad at a much lower fees.
  • The 2 year MBA program provides an in-depth exposure to the curriculum in contrast to the 1 year program at ISB Hyderabad

So all this makes IIMs much popular in India despite ISB Hyderabad global rankings.

What are initiatives I need to take to get into ISB Hyderabad?

SS
Shyam Sunder Posted On : February 8th, 2023
Studied Post Graduate Program in Management at Indian School of Business (2019)

ISB Hyderabad admission is highly influenced by the uniqueness of one’s profile. When we talk about the profile, the first thing that comes to anyone’s mind is high marks. But grades are not sufficient unless you topped the CA exam or the IIT JEE. Your IT background does give you a slight edge over other candidates. However, the main focus should be on including something in your profile that makes you stand out from the crowd. Something that forces the selection committee to choose you over others. Being a national champion in any sport can do wonders for your profile. Another option is adding your skills in music, arts, or design.

Now let’s talk about the basic requirements like work experience and GMAT score. Based on your work experience, you should have a certain level of clarity of goals as to why you are pursuing an MBA at this point in your life. An excellent GMAT is always the best option for upgrading your profile. Another criterion that ISB Hyderabad considers is diversity. A female with non-engineering or non-CA background has better chances. The last and the most impactful criterion is your personal essay which defines you. It should be honestly written by you only and should be able to influence the readers considerably.

What are the good courses at ISB Hyderabad for a mechanical engineer?

MR
Maheshwar Reddy Posted On : February 8th, 2023
MBA in Information Management & Finance, Indian School of Business (Graduated 2019)

Your question is vague as everyone has a different definition of a good course. One may prefer a rigorous course while others may prefer a laid-back course. However, because the courses you are asking about are from ISB Hyderabad there is a certain level of credibility to them. It’s a general assumption that an Institute as reputed as ISB Hyderabad offers the best courses in every field.

But then again a course with a good curriculum cannot necessarily be good unless it matches your inclinations and career prospects.

The most popular courses offered at ISB Hyderabad include PGP & PGPX courses, which are almost equivalent to MBA. There are a variety of other courses which can be chosen according to your own preferences. For detailed information contact alumni or check the university’s official website.
