No, unfortunately, it’s not possible to get a seat in Mechanical Engineering at VSSUT with such a low rank. Usually, the cutoff for the general category is around 60-70k and your rank is far from the cutoff rank. However, if you are adamant about getting a mechanical seat you can opt for the branch change facility under which the top 10% of students of a branch can change their branch. For this, you need to secure a good CGPA in the semesters. But this option is very risky and unpredictable so consider all options.

First let's sink in the fact that anyone who gets a call from IIM Calcutta is anything but average or below average. The fact that you got selected is enough to claim that you are not below average.

Honestly even the above average students have to put tremendous effort inside any IIM. Look at the bright side. You, being a below average student, just need to put in more effort than an average student to get at a level equivalent to that of an above average candidate.
