What’s the minimum percentage required for admission in IIM Indore and Kozhikode?

GK
Gauri Kapoor Posted On : January 12th, 2023
CAT 100th percentiler, IIMA Alumnus, Co Founder at Cracku

Depending on the candidate's profile, an IIM callback minimum percentile may apply. In addition to CAT exam results, a number of other factors, including academic standing, work history, professional certifications, gender diversity, and others, are taken into consideration during the top IIMs' admissions process. Each IIM has a different approach to how much importance it places on prior academic performance. IIM Indore, for instance, places a lot of emphasis on performance in the 10th and 12th grades.

  • At IIM Kozhikode:

Three steps make up the IIMK admissions process:

  • Stage 1 requires Minimum qualifications.
  • Shortlist for Stage 2's Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI)
  • The Third Stage is the Final Selection.

  • At IIM Indore:

People who consistently perform well in school are known to receive rewards from IIM Indore (especially in 10th and 12th). There are three stages to the IIM Indore admissions process:

  • Stage 1 is the Requirements for Eligibility
  • Shortlisting for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview at Stage 2 (PI)
  • Final Selection at Stage Three.

This is a general overview of the IIM Indore and Kozhikode admissions process.

Can I be eligible for IIM Visakhapatnam with my academic records 10th 85%, 12th 92%, and graduation 62%?

JJ
Jason Jose Posted On : February 13th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (2000–present)

IIM Visakhapatnam, like most B-schools in India, sets minimum criteria for admission based on the percentage scored in 10th, 12th, and graduation. The criteria for admission at IIM Visakhapatnam are not as stringent as some of the older IIMs, and generally, a score of above 60% in 10th, 12th, and graduation would make one eligible for admission at the institute. However, it's important to note that the institute may have different requirements and cutoffs for different programs, and it's best to check the official website or contact the institute directly for the most up-to-date and accurate information on their admission criteria. Additionally, while meeting the minimum eligibility criteria is important, it is not the only factor that is considered during the admission process, other factors such as work experience, entrance exam scores, and personal interviews are also considered.

The CAT score, in addition to being a selection criterion, is also used to establish the minimum level of proficiency that is expected from the candidate in respective areas as indicated by section-wise minimum scores in the CAT.

The weightage for key components of the shortlisting criteria for IIM Visakhapatnam in 2022 is as follows:

Component Weight in percentage on a scale of 100 Key Points to Note
CAT 2021 Percentile 50 Section-wise weight prescribed
Class 10 marks 10 90 & Above percentile
Class 12 marks 10 90 & Above percentile
Bachelors degree 10 Stream-wise weights
Diversity 10 Awarded to Female Candidates, transgenders & Non-Engineers
Work experience 10 Candidates with work ex from 1 year and below 3 years awarded the highest weight

What are chances of converting NMIMS Mumbai in 211?

KS
Krunal Sampat Posted On : February 28th, 2023
PGDM International Business & Marketing, K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (2020

Your chances of converting to NMIMS Mumbai are average considering the cutoff below

Section

Expected cutoff

Language skills

71

Quantitative Techniques

76

Logical Reasoning

69

Overall

232

The overall cutoff is 232 while your score is 211. This slight variation can be compensated by performing well in other rounds and areas. NMIMS gives different weights to the different parameters that constitute the final merit list:

  • NMAT Score - 70%
  • Group/Case Discussion - 10%
  • Personal Interview - 10%
  • Academic Performance - 5%
  • Work Experience - 5%

In case you think your NMAT score is not enough, acing the CDPI rounds will work for you. Both rounds carry a significant weightage of 10% each and can prove to be definite game changers. Other criteria include work experience and past academic records.

Also, there might be people who score higher than you but let that demotivate you as a lower score can be compensated in consecutive rounds. The CDPI round is rather unpredictable and needs to be handled tactfully. Sometimes the performance of one candidate can affect others in the case discussion round. So be prepared for the worst scare scenarios.

What are my chances to convert IMI New Delhi with CAT 92.3 percentile and Xth 79.8%, 12th 86% with a year gap graduation 60.27%?

Considering the criteria and the recent trends, I deem your profile to fare quite well provided that you perform well throughout the selection process.

Once you have been shortlisted you have to face 3 rounds during the selection process

  1. Written ability test
  2. Psychometric test
  3. Interview+Extempore

Your mentioned score combined with your great performance during these rounds will increase your chances of admission.

Does IIM Ahmedabad give a call to the top 50 people from different academic background even if I do not qualify the composite score for getting a call?

AT
Akshay Tripathi Posted On : December 13th, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (Graduated 2019)

The top 5% of people from any academic category will be preferred when giving a call provided that they have cleared the various criteria. They include:

  • Primary sectionals

  • Overall CAT cutoff

  • scored above the specified percentage in 10th and 12th

  • scored above the 80th percentile graduation score

If you have cleared all these criteria then you will be among the eligible candidates. But IIM Ahmedabad calls only 5% of the top composite score holders. For example, if there are 100 general candidates then it will call only the top 5 composite score holders. If there are 2000 general candidates it will call only 100 top composite score holders. But the maximum number of calls made will never exceed 100.

Jaipur National University is a UGC and AICTE approved institute and is also accredited with an 'A' Grade by NAAC. So all the students will be completely eligible to apply for any government jobs or exams after completing their graduation.

This university is as good as any reputed private university and provides very good support and guidance to the students. Many of the alumni of this college are now working in good positions in both private and government organizations.

Is there any chance of getting a seat at IIM Ahmedabad if I get above 90% in the CAT exam, but I have 72% in 10th and 60% in 12th?

AA
Abdul Ahad Posted On : December 13th, 2022
IIM Ahmedabad, Class of 2016

Honestly, there is almost no chance of getting into any IIMs with your profile with any percentile. Even getting a 99 score in CAT will not guarantee your admission into IIM Ahmedabad given your past academic score is so low.

Still, you can try your best and score the maximum CAT percentile and instead go for institutes like FMS, MDI and NITIE, IIT B/D/M. Another tip is to take XAT as it may increase your chances of admission.

A 90-95 CAT score will open other options for you such as

  • IIFT (own entrance)

  • SIBM, SCMHRD (both through SNAP)

  • NMIMS (through NMAT)

  • IMT, XIMB, IMI, Delhi University courses (DSE, MIB, MBE)

So it’s best if you try all options and sit for various exams. Then choose the best institute for you.
