People with more than four years of experience were given one of the best placements at IIM Lucknow. You should remember that your work, experience, and area of interest are always factors in your placements. Indeed, work experience, whether relevant or irrelevant, is always a plus.
The reasons for this are straightforward:
You have an advantage over freshmen on campus, but you must also make good use of your campus time. Yes, jobs in sales, FMCG, and so on are unlikely to shortlist you. You will almost certainly receive shortlists from consulting firms, marketing profiles, and finance profiles.

NIT, Srinagar has been ranked 67 by NIRF,2020. The Mechanical Engineering department of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar offers full-time BTech and MTech courses.
The faculty of the department is experienced and well-qualified. A lot of emphases is laid upon practical exposure and internships. Students are taken on industrial visits. Projects are given for a better theoretical understanding.
Students also get pre-placement training to get ready for the placement drive at the institute. Students are encouraged to get internships as it increases their chance to get good jobs compared to students who don’t pursue an internship.
Placements:
Some students get paid internships while others work in unpaid settings. Companies like DRDO, IISC, NPTC hire students for internships stating that if students do well during their interning period, they would be offered a job once the internship period is over.
Placement opportunities are average. Although many good companies visit the campus to hire students only a few companies are from the core Mechanical sector.
The average salary offered is 6.5 LPA. Companies like ABB, L&T, Maruti Suzuki, Indian Oil, AFCON infra, IISC Bangalore, NPTC, etc.
Students who do not get placed on campus apply for jobs off-campus.
Compared to other branches like CSE or IT, Mechanical engineering has a lower placement average of around 70%.
The highest salary offered is around 19 lakhs per annum.
The only drawback is that on-campus core- sector jobs are less. Searching and applying for jobs outside is always an option. Many students apply for jobs themselves and do get those jobs.

Placements of any college depend on its Alumni Network and this fact can’t be denied that being a 100-Year-Old institution IIT BHU has a wide range of alumni working in every area. Placements here are comparable to other IIT’s. MTech in Mechanical at IIT BHU has a good placement percentage. IIT BHU has Training and Placement Cell working hard for the placement of their students.
There are several PSUs like IOCL, ISRO, BPCL, HUL, CIL, ONGC, etc. who came to the campus for placement drive. Besides there are other private firms too like Bajaj, Maruti, Jaguar, Trident Automobiles, etc. that visit campus too for recruiting students from MTech in Mechanical Engineering. With good placement percentage students are placed in well knows firms with an average pay package of 8.10 Lakhs per annum and the highest package offered was 30 LPA CTC.
Two items are sought for by traders:
Knowledge & Passion
Basic knowledge of commodity and oil understanding for traders. like the peaks, troughs, and volume of well-known commodities. Your viewpoint on a certain product or the global economy. How do you stay informed about news? For example, do you understand how to use the Bloomberg Terminal? What are your alternatives and duties?
Decisions
This is especially crucial when you attend interviews. They want to know about any situations where you had to make difficult choices, or else they might instigate something to make you the subject of a trade judgment.
Due to the fact that the majority of trade companies entering IIFT will offer positions where you will need to make difficult decisions on a regular basis and mistakes might be expensive!
They focus more on your attitude than your grades!
I have two friends who are Electrical Engineering graduates from PEC and are currently working in a good IT company. One of them was also among the only two people who cracked directly written.
Being from an electrical background, it can be tough to learn coding in your free time and also cope up with your syllabus and keep your grades high. But if you are persistent you can definitely do it. You might also need to study some CS/IT subjects like DBMS while learning to code. As many students of the institute suggest to secure a job in an IT company you have to take off-campus routes, as most of the top companies are not open for interviews for the Electrical branch at PEC Chandigarh.
But yes, it is possible to land a job at an IT company even after completing ELE if you can learn to code properly and work hard enough to make yourself prepare for the job.
Most recruiters prefer students with work experience, so they can easily train them if they have a thorough knowledge of the basics. You can attend a summer internship program in order to gain experience and sharpen your skills. Freshmen also get good placement opportunities ; the selection is done based on your performance in the interview, your communication skills, and your knowledge of the subject.
Both the National Institute Of Technology Sikkim and National Institute Of Technology Mizoram has good placement. I have a few friends from both institutes, and I was able to get the placement information from them. Here are the recent placement highlights for both institutes.
Parameters | NIT Sikkim | NIT Mizoram |
Average CTC | 8 LPA | 7.11 LPA |
Highest CTC | 18 LPA | 12 LPA |
Lowest CTC | 5 LPA | 5 LPA |
Major recruiters | Intel, Wipro, HP, Xerox, Tata Consultancy Services, Microsoft, etc. | Yodlee Envestnet, Capgemini, L&T, ECC, Vedanta, etc. |
The only difference the institutes have in their placements is due to the different student intake, importance imposed in practical-based learning, etc.
