My friend recently joined DMS, IIT Delhi to pursue MBA despite getting calls from almost all the new IIMs. She based her decision on the following factors
ROI: I think this is an underestimated factor people don’t stress enough. When you are comparing colleges on the same wavelength, it’s the ROI that can make the difference prominent. Apparently DMS, IIT Delhi enjoys an ROI of 180%.
Placements: DMS has great placement opportunities. The stats below prove it

The placements for the Operations and Supply Chain accounted for 17.3%. The highest number of students had work experience in the Information Technology industry followed by the Supply Chain & Operations industry.
Ranking: DMS, IIT Delhi is ranked 5 in the NIRF ranking and also ranks higher than all new IIMs in
most of the CAT coaching institute rankings. It has a rich research culture giving it the 3 positions in the QS world rankings.
Batch size: DMS has an average batch size thereby increasing the scope of interaction. It also enjoys location advantages, not making it difficult for big industries to visit the campus for recruitment.
Both IIT Delhi and IIT Ropar are highly reputable institutes in India, and both have strong programs in production industrial engineering and computer science engineering, respectively. However, if I were in your place, I would have chosen IIT Delhi Production and Industrial Engineering. Here are some strong points supporting my stance

Considering everything, IIT Delhi is a better option than IIT Ropar. The opportunities, brand name, and academic environment you will have access to will be unmatched. However, if you have a specific inclination towards the CS branch and want to pursue a career in the same, you can also consider joining IIT Ropar as the CS branch has diverse job opportunities even for the average students.
At IIT Delhi, a 7 CGPA is considered average so definitely 8 CGPA will be considered above average. The value of CGPAs at IIT Delhi is as follows
Key highlight pertaining to CGPA
I would like to comment that an 8 CGPA is quite decent and will open opportunities to a certain extent but to ensure maximum opportunities, an 8.5+ CGPA is recommended.
The placement scenario of the Chemical Engineering department at IIT Delhi is great. I asked a friend about the exact scenario because the institute does not release branch-wise details. As per the info I got from him, most students of the branch get placed.
So the placements are great, you need the skills to make the most out of them!
IIT Delhi Mechanical Engineering average package is around INR 15-20 LPA. For core mechanical engineering job profiles the CTC offered is less. Usually, most students go for Consulting, Data Analytics, and Coding job profiles. These jobs usually have higher salary packages. Also, for non-core jobs, mast MNCs are open for all branches.
Studying Production and Industrial Engineering (PIE) at IIT Delhi can be a highly rewarding experience. The PIE program at IIT Delhi is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop and optimize production and manufacturing systems, with a focus on productivity, quality, and efficiency. Here are some of the key aspects of studying PIE at IIT Delhi:
In summary, studying PIE at IIT Delhi can be a challenging and rewarding experience, with ample opportunities for hands-on learning, research, and career development. Graduates of the program are well-positioned to succeed in a variety of roles in the manufacturing and production sectors, and are equipped with the skills needed to drive innovation and improve efficiency in these industries.
While many might suggest you go for DTU CS, and not run after the IIT tag, my opinion may vary. Had I been in your place, I would have chosen IIT Delhi any day over DTU because the exposure, opportunities, brand value, research opportunities, and top-notch education that come with it are worth a few boring Textile Courses.
Most importantly, IIT Delhi allows you to take electives in the field of your choice and you can always opt for CS electives for better placements. Some common courses undertaken by students who opt for non-core placements are
With the right balance of basic textile education and these courses, you can avail of both, CS education as well as IIT tag. However, you will have to study some courses in which you are least interested, thereby wasting your time. This sacrifice is justifiable when you keep in mind the CS faculty of IIT Delhi which is far better than DTU.
IITs are known for having smaller batch sizes. However, the finance placements at IIT Delhi may be subdued due to the institute's focus on operations and technology. It is worth noting that both IIT Delhi and IIM Shillong have competitive placements and have not yet grown their batches to the point where this becomes a concern. IIM Shillong has strong finance placements, including ICICI Bank, which is a well-regarded employer for MBA graduates.
It is difficult to compare the two institutes as they both have their own strengths and advantages. IIT Delhi has a long history and its DMS programs are well-established in the industry. If a student is considering IIT Delhi and has concerns about the college's focus on investment banking, it is important to note that this career path is not heavily dependent on starting placements and individuals can be self-reliant in building their careers. IIT Delhi is likely to continue growing and expanding in the future, and IIM Shillong is well-positioned among the newer IIMs in RRRTUCS. It will also continue to build its research and faculty strength, particularly after it gets a new campus.
Location is a factor to consider when choosing between the two institutes. IIT Delhi is located in urban New Delhi, which may be an advantage for some students. However, it is worth noting that the lack of investment in MBA programs at IITs, including Delhi, could become a problem in the long term as the field requires significant expenses in faculty, coursework, and programs to remain competitive. Currently, IIT Delhi is ahead of the newer IIMs, particularly if a student is interested in a consulting placement straight out of school.
Over the past few years, IIT Delhi has started offering many Data Science certificate courses. Recently, IIT Delhi has started offering MTech Program in Machine Intelligence & Data Science (MINDS).

Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering was established on 1st January 2018 for developing and undertaking research on textiles for specific end uses. However, textile engineering is a relatively new and least opted branch.
When compared to other branches, it has the least average placement package. A sum of placement statistics of textile can be inferred from the table below

Most students go for consultancy, analyst or coding profiles as very few core Textile Companies visit the campus for recruitment.
The major companies that hire students from this specialization are
In all truth, Textile technology at IITD does not do justice to the name and fame of the institute. Don’t choose this course just for the IIT tag as you will end up really disappointed.
