IIIT Sri City is a decent option. However, with your rank, you can convert to other colleges too, such as NIT Patna, Hamirpur, IIITDM Jabalpur. So, cover all your options and choose according to your convenience.
Which should I choose and why? IIT Bhubaneswar (5 year dual degree in mech.eng.) or BITS Pilani,Pilani for electronics and instrumentation?
I would say choosing 5 years dual degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar is a better option than BITS Pilani for electronics and instrumentation.
- IIT Bhubaneswar is known for its academic standards and it is a government-run institution whereas BITS Pilani is a privately run institution.
- IIt Bhubaneswar offers great opportunities for the student to excel in both academic and research work with their extensive academic curriculums.
- The placement records for the department were excellent in 2023 with 82% of the students being placed and having a median package of INR 12 LPA.
- Some of the top recruiters were Google, Amazon, Microsoft and more
Which one should I choose, IIIT Allahabad (IT), MNIT Allahabad (IT), NIT Bhopal (CSE), or NIT Jalandhar (CSE)?
IIIT Allahabad is better than MNIT Allahabad if you are interested in coding. Although NITs and IIIT Allahabad both are centrally funded technical institutes. The only difference is the course curriculum as IIIT Allahabad focuses only on IT and ECE. Due to this, minor subjects like Chemistry, Applied Mechanics, Engineering Drawing are dropped in 1st and 2nd semester itself.
NITs have a long legacy making it more reputable with strong alumni across all domains. On the other hand, IIITA is a young institution and follows innovative academic policies. Its alumni members are even present in Silicon Valley in a short span of time.
You can decide your own priorities in the career. If you are interested in coding culture and look forward to great internships and placements with a small cozy campus, you should prefer IIIT Allahabad. You should opt for MNIT Allahabad if you are interested in meeting new people with diverse backgrounds. It will help you in enhancing your personality.
If you ask me, my vote goes for IIIT Allahabad on all these below parameters.

IIIT Allahabad has placements in Google Mountain View/ Europe/ Australia/Japan from almost every Batch from the past 4-5 years. IIIT Allahabad was preferred by these companies because a lot of alumni already worked in these companies and better industry perception has been built up.
The strength in NIT-A is approximately twice as compared to IIIT-A. And every year this strength keeps increasing. As you know that the quality decreases with the increase in strength, I would again suggest you choose IIIT-A.
How is the placement for IT in LNCT Bhopal? What is its highest package for IT?
Since I am a part of LNCT Group of Technologies, Bhopal, the insights I provide can be helpful for a few.
- The IT sector placements, by the organization, apparently offer a variety of opportunities.
- A really good amount of recruiters visit the campus, especially from the IT sector, and hire a large number of candidates.
- VMware, back in 2019, offered the highest salary package of almost around INR 18 LPA and hired 4 students side by side.
- The best advice to secure a position at the top companies is to put as much effort as required into brushing your skills from the scratch.
- It is better to stay updated with the latest technological trends of the industry and keep up with their demands, as and when required.
- You should invest a reasonable amount of time into working upon aptitude, and logical reasoning, alongside keeping a good hold on your communication skills as well.
These are aspects that play a pivotal role in determining whether or not you are the best fit for a firm. It is suggested that you keep on polishing your skills more than wondering about aspects otherwise.
Should I join IIITDM Jabalpur or IIIT Guwahati for CSE?
There are numerous factors to consider before enrolling in any institute.
In terms of curriculum, it is assumed that the CSE curriculum at IIIT Guwahati is on par with that of any other institute of national importance. Many of the seniors landed good jobs in MNCs, and despite the location taboo, they were able to find suitable placements.
Because Jabalpur is in Central India, more companies will undoubtedly visit the campus. However, you are aware that they are also in the design and management fields. In contrast, the IIT Guwahati curriculum is completely different from theirs in that regard (it includes courses such as optimization techniques which IIITDM does not possibly have). In CSE, a greater emphasis is placed on software development and machine learning. So if you want to be in the middle of nature, join IIIT Guwahati. Whoever said this might be an immature student in their field of study, perhaps a freshman or a sophomore.
It is recommended to compare the faculty research areas and qualifications in both institutes as well as the infrastructure, placement record, and curriculum. Then you'll be able to choose which type of institute you want to attend.
What should I take: computer science, IIT Ropar, or production and industrial engineering, IIT Delhi?
Both IIT Delhi and IIT Ropar are highly reputable institutes in India, and both have strong programs in production industrial engineering and computer science engineering, respectively. However, if I were in your place, I would have chosen IIT Delhi Production and Industrial Engineering. Here are some strong points supporting my stance
- Location : Located in the capital city, IIT Delhi offers great access to coaching institutes for preparation for IAS, IES, GATE, or any other competitive exams. This won’t be possible at IIT Ropar.
- Reputation: IIT Delhi's Overall ranking by NIRF is 3 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023 while that of IIT Ropar is 33 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023.
- Reputation: IIT Delhi is not just an institute it’s a brand that every recruiter and student is aware of.
- Curriculum: IIT Delhi Production and Industrial Engineering has courses similar to Mechanical students so the job opportunities are also similar. Additionally, you can learn some management skills through subjects like industrial engineering subjects Quality control, Operations research, Production planning, and control, etc
- Placements: IIT Delhi has a track record of excellent placements way better than IIT Ropar. It can further be understood through the table below

Considering everything, IIT Delhi is a better option than IIT Ropar. The opportunities, brand name, and academic environment you will have access to will be unmatched. However, if you have a specific inclination towards the CS branch and want to pursue a career in the same, you can also consider joining IIT Ropar as the CS branch has diverse job opportunities even for the average students.
Which is better for CSE, IIIT Guwahati or NIT Andhra Pradesh?
You can opt for NIT Andhra Pradesh. Now, you may be hesitant about choosing it because it is 2 years younger than IIIT Guwahati. But NIT Andhra Pradesh has both a very good location and faculty. The location of your institute matters since there are few companies that clearly do not visit the North East for placements. Even though IIIT Guwahati does not qualify to be at a very remote location, you will definitely have better options at NIT Andhra Pradesh.

The 2 years gap does not necessarily make noticeable differences, but the location does. For example, NIT Goa is only 7 years old but still has notable placement stats only because of its favorable location. So, if you want to enroll in IIIT, then either IIIT, Trichy, or Sri City can be considered better than IIIT Guwahati. IIIT Guwahati also had poor placements for CSE in recent years.
The final decision is yours, but NIT Andhra is definitely a better choice.
How is Acharya Institute of Technology for CSE in terms of college life, the study environment, the ratio of North Indians, the food, the hostel, etc.? Please elaborate.
The CSE department of Acharya Institute of Technology is quite good, considering the overall educational facilities, hostels, and environment. A friend of mine attended the institute. Here is his review regarding the facilities provided by the institute.
- Comparing with other departments, the CSE department is quite decent, with good laboratories, clean classrooms, and overall good infrastructure.
- The environment inside the campus of Acharya Institute of Technology is quite good for students to study peacefully. Candidates having doubts about the internal environment can clarify the same from internal faculties.
- There is an almost equal ratio of North Indians and South Indians inside the campus.
- The hostels provided by Acharya Institute of Technology are good, compared to hostels of other institutes. There are double and triple sharing rooms, which cost around Rs. 1.1 and Rs. 1.47 lakhs per annum respectively. Inside the rooms, the institute provides tables and chairs to study. There are medical facilities available inside the campus.
- For internet services, the institute provides LAN for laptops only inside the rooms. There is WIFI connectivity at the corridor, where most social networking and online shopping sites are blocked. But, these sites can be accessed through LAN after 5 PM.
- Talking about the food in hostels, there is a 3-time meal system- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overall, the food is considered to be good, with both rice and chapatti in lunch and dinner. Sumber is a must.

Which is better: IT from NSIT, IT from DTU, or CSE from IIIT Delhi?
IT from NSIT is the best option among these.
- The student crowd is brilliant. It has a small batch size compared to DTU. So, you will face less competition.
- NSIT has an amazing pool of faculties. You will get to learn from excellent faculty members like Sangeeta Sabharwal and MPS Bhatia.
- NSIT IT placements are better than DTU and IIIT D. DTU has a better placement record for core branches. While NSIT offers better placements opportunities to CS and IT students. In the recent placement drive, the average CTC for IT at NSIT was INR 6 LPA.
- Companies like Facebook, Google hire students from NSIT from their US offices.
- Major consulting and non-tech companies like Bain, BCG, ZS Associates, etc. also visit the campus placements.
IIIT Delhi has an excellent research culture and professors from top universities like Carnegie Mellon. So, if you are interested in research, you should choose IIIT D. Overall IT from NSIT is the best option in terms of academics and placements.
