As some of my friends studied at Thapar University, I can share some of their experiences and views about the fresher’s party.
I hope that this answer was helpful enough and your excitement about the Fresher’s party at the University lives up to its expectations.
Yes, extracurricular activities matter a lot. Placements are not only about knowledge but also about how you present yourself and how you interact with people.
Involvement in extracurricular activities speaks about your multidimensional personality which every organization coming for placement in every institute aspires to hire. Involvement in these activities teaches you to work in a team, think creatively, and develop time management.
One of my colleagues previously pursued his studies at Thurgood Marshall Law from Texas, which was slightly lower ranked than the schools situated in Chicago. Despite the drawbacks, he still acquired the opportunity to enroll at one of the top institutes later in his life.
Having said that, low-ranked schools or institutes generally do not preclude you from attempting your chances at several other top institutes.
However, it will still require a lot of effort and input from your side. In case you want to be eligible, you should secure a score over 780 in GMAT, with a simultaneous record of work experience.
Only then can you think of getting a call from the administration. You will also have to fulfill several in-built criteria made or followed by them altogether.
I have a few friends from both Thapar University and LNM-IIT Jaipur and based on the reviews I got from them, I will say LNMIIT Jaipur will be a better option. Here are the reasons why.
Hence, LNMIIT is a very good place to pursue CSE, but a college is just a medium and it completely depends on how you can utilize your 4 years in the college. Your success will depend on your hard work and efforts.
Societies or clubs in every institute mainly help in personal development. They will certainly help you in improving your skills, communication and also provide exposure. But clubs or societies don’t directly help in getting placements at Thapar University.
For placements, the first and foremost important thing is clearing the aptitude test because without clearing that you won’t be allowed to participate in the placement sessions. The second important thing is your summer internship program. The summer internship program has to be something substantial to your course and preferably from a good company. Working in a substantial summer internship program will also help in clearing the placement interview.
The certificates from the clubs or the societies won’t do much good even if you put them in the resume. It is better to work on your English, Communication Skills, and aptitude as these will help you in the placement and also in the long run.
Having known some people studying in both these institutions, I can say that KIIT is promising and is getting better every year. Thapar is a well-known and much older institute. You can choose either by preferring the college or the branch.
Categories | CS from KIIT | Mechanical at Thapar |
Course Fee | 12.91 lakhs | 13.23 lakhs |
Highest CTC | 30 LPA | 19 LPA |
Average CTC | 12-16 LPA | 11 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Wipro, Infosys, Dell, Deloitte, etc. | Tech Mahindra, TCS, JP Morgan, Cisco, etc. |
So you should decide your field of interest and what type of job or higher studies you would like to do and then opt for the branch that fits best for you.
Having friends studying in all of these universities, I can say that they all are some of the most prestigious colleges in India. However, if you have to choose the best, go with NIT Rourkela without a second thought. Here’s why:
Categories |
NIT Rourkela |
Course Fee |
6.4 - 7.93 lakh |
Highest CTC |
42 LPA |
Average CTC |
12 LPA |
Recruiting Companies |
Microsoft, Amazon, Qualcomm, Goldman Sachs, etc. |
NIT Rourkela is indeed the best option among these and if you manage to secure a seat, you’re lucky. Besides all the above plus points, you will eventually get the NIT brand tag which will help you throughout your career.
My brother is currently pursuing CML at Thapar University and he highly recommends the course as you will get to learn a lot compared to the core CS. Here are some of the reasons why he chose this course.
If you talk to the graduates from IITs who are currently working as Data scientists in the industry they will definitely recommend this course. As it offers immense opportunities.
Thapar University has a state quota, so if you are from Punjab, you will get admission easily. However, if you are from another state, you will need more marks for the same seat. As a result, the seats reserved for other states are frequently left vacant due to the higher requirement of jee mains marks.
In December, all of these empty seats are converted to neutral seats. For these vacant seats, a JEE Main-style test is held in Patiala and Delhi.
To take this test, you must have a minimum of 60% in your boards and be enrolled in a Btech program at any engineering college until December. Despite the fact that the December exam follows the syllabus of the 12th grade.
CSE at Thapar Patiala is much better when compared to GNDU Amritsar. This choice majorly depends on the individual and might vary from person to person.
If you are dedicated and passionate about the field you are pursuing and are eager to learn, then whichever college you choose, you will definitely succeed. As you are not dependent on the college’s reputation, but learning the skills for the industry for your betterment.
Also, your economic stability is a major concern. If the fees are not your problem you can choose Thapar over GNDU. Thapar provides better exposure and salary packages, whereas GNDU has average placements offering lower salary packages.
But if fees are one of your major concerns, then opt for GNDU, as it will be better.
