Is it a fruitful decision to leave NIT Jamshedpur CSE for MNNIT Allahabad mechanical?

RK
Rahul Khanna Posted On : April 29th, 2021
Studied CSE at NIT Jamshedpur

Well, it depends upon several factors. A few of them are as mentioned below.

  • Where you possibly imagine yourself in the next 10 years and more?
  • What has been the real motivation behind your aim for pursuing engineering?
  • What is the time period you are willing to assign for reaching your goal?

There are other factors, or possible scenarios, such as,

  • Cushy CTC: In this case, CSE will be better than Mechanical Engineering.
  • Higher studies abroad: CSE and Mech both will offer similar opportunities.
  • Competitive examination: In case you would want to take the UPSC examination, IES, PSU, or several others, choosing Mechanical will be better as compared to CSE.
  • MBA from IIM: With regard to that, being a student from the mechanical department can give you an edge. As it will offer you diversity points. If however, your scores are low, then you will lose the edge.
  • Work destination: If you want to work in Gulf in the future, then choosing Mech is better. If you dream of working in the US, CSE offers better options.
  • If you have a natural affinity towards automobiles then go for Mechanical Engineering.

The above scenarios can give you possible average outcomes, but there can be vague contradictions as well. You also need to consider which subject interests you.

According to various student reviews, the preference order for CSE and Mechanical is MNNIT > NITJ. You should always give preference to the branch rather than the institute. Hope this clarifies most of your doubts.

What should I prefer, CSE at IIIT Lucknow or mechanical at MNNIT Allahabad?

RR
Ravi Ranjan Raj Posted On : June 8th, 2021
B.Tech from Jadavpur University (2020)

For placements, IIIT Lucknow will be bast. But if you are interested in Mechanical then MNNIT Allahabad will be a better option. Although you should keep in mind that from the future perspective Mechanical will be a risky choice. Jobs are very less in the core sector and the package will be less. The competition is also quite high in both the public and private sectors.

Here are the recent placement statistics of the institutes.

Parameters IIIT Lucknow MNNIT Allahabad
Average CTC 18 LPA 10 LPA
Highest CTC 43 LPA 49 LPA

But in the case of the CSE branch, you will surely get a job with a decent package. You can also change jobs between different companies as there are many opportunities available as IT is a booming sector at present.

Which is better, CSE at IET Lucknow or ECE at MNNIT Allahabad

AS
Anant Singh Posted On : September 15th, 2020
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow

IET is ranked #1 among all the ATKU 600+ engineering colleges, whereasMNNIT Allahabad was ranked #48th by NIRF for B.Tech courses. The placement rate of CSE branch is higher as compared to other subjects in IET. Generally the recruiting companies for CSE and ECE branches are almost similar. The only difference lies in the institution, teaching staff and the candidate’s performance. Both the institutions have qualified faculties. Both of them are approved by AICTE.

Intake process

IET Lucknow:

  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 having Physics and Mathematics (compulsory subjects) with Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology from a recognized board with a minimum of 45% marks.
  • He/she must have completed an entrance exam i.e., UPSEE
  • The total intake of the program is 60 seats.
  • The fee for 1st year is Rs 89,775.
  • The cut off for the home state candidates is 357-495 and for other state candidates is 193-342.

MNNIT Allahabad:

  • Candidate must have completed 10+2 in Science stream with a minimum 75% marks.
  • Candidate must have passed the entrance exam, i.e., JEE Main.
  • The fees for the ECE course is Rs 84,666.
  • The cut off for the home state candidates is 3600-7128 and for candidates from other states, it ranged from4615-6752.

Placements

  • In IET Lucknow:
    • Some top recruiters of the institutions are: Adobe, Wipro, TATA Project Limited, Lava Mobiles, Honda, BYJU’S, etc.
    • The highest salary offered to the students was INR 37 LPA.
  • In MNNIT Allahabad:
    • 90.63% is the ECE placement rate of MNNIT Allahabad.
    • Some of the top recruitersof MNNIT Allahabad include the Indian Navy, Dell, Canon, BHEL, E-bay, Adobe, Bharat Institute of Technology, etc.
    • The highest salary offered to the students was INR 25.33 LPA and the average salary offered was INR 10.95 LPA.

Some of the on-campus facilities of IET Lucknow are library, gym, hostel and bank. Some of the on-campus facilities in MNNIT Allahabad are a stationery shop, generator, student club, hostel (geyser, air cooler, refrigerator, water cooler, washing machine), PCO, 24/7 canteen, etc. Getting into IET Lucknow is difficult, as their cut-offs are really high. But the companies recruiting are not so good. Choosing ECE over CSE will give you the advantage of sitting in placements of both the courses. The rest all lies in the hands of the candidate and their interest. They can compare all the information available and then decide which is better for them.

OK
Om Kapoor Posted On : September 16th, 2020
B.Tech Civil Engineering, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad

Delhi Technological University (DTU) and MNNIT Allahabad have numerous opportunities for the students opting to do civil engineering. DTU has an upstanding ranking record as it was ranked at #2 in Best Technological Universities in India by Times Engineering Survey and #34 by NIRF. MNNIT on the other hand was ranked at #14 in the Top Public colleges in India 2020 by India today and #19 for B.Tech in India 2019 by The Week.

A comparison is presented below to explain the factors to be considered while choosing civil engineering course from these two universities:

Particulars

MNNIT Allahabad

DTU

Fees

Rs. 6,55,000

Rs. 7,81,000

Entrance Criteria

10+2 in science with 75% & JEE Main

10+2 in science with 60% & JEE Main

Median Salary

8,00,000

What should I do I am getting civil at MNNIT Allahabad in first round? This is my first attempt and I'm interested in ISI, IISc or IISER for research.

VJ
Vivan Jain Posted On : July 29th, 2021
M.Tech in Computer Science, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata (2020)

ISI, at the undergraduate level, teaches statistics and mathematics and IISER is in charge of General Sciences and MNNIT Allahabad offers engineering programs. Think thoroughly about what you want to pursue because the paradigms are different and the impact on the industry is also different.

If you go for civil engineering at MNNIT Allahabad you will find that the subjects are similar in the first year. You can top your class if you study hard. Only the top 2-3 students get the opportunity for changing their discipline after completing the first year. Changing your discipline will enhance your eligibility to the other institutes you have mentioned in your postgraduate.

ISI gives you five options at the postgraduate level:

  • MS in Quantitative Economics
  • M.Tech in Computer Science
  • M.Tech in Reliability, Quality, and Operations Research
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (this is co-hosted with IIT Kharagpur and IIM Kolkata)
  • In case you want to pursue mathematics then you can go for M.Math.

IISc offers a number of specializations in engineering and general sciences. The eligibility, however, was restricted to undergraduates and the disciplines related to them. For shifting disciplines, you will have to appear for the GATE exams for the discipline you are converting to.

My friend appeared for his GATE exam in CSE to pursue the same in M.Tech. ISI is unique in this case because there are no restrictions here.

Which is better in every respect DTU IT, DTU SE, NSIT IT or MNNIT Allahabad CSE?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 23rd, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

If I was in your place and had to choose between the aforementioned institutes, I would set my preference order as follows

NSIT IT >= DTU IT > DTU SE > MNNIT CSE

The reason I have placed NSIT and DTU in the first place is because of their location in the capital city. This opens multiple doors of opportunities and exposure that might not be available in other colleges. Also, the quality of students these colleges attract is top notch and you will end up befriending some of the most genius minds.

However, if you are passionate about programming and CS, then choose IIIT Delhi because its curriculum and overall ambiance are CS oriented. The research culture and facilities here are unmatched and students conduct high-end research under the guidance of some great faculty.

Your last option should be MNNIT mainly because of its poor location.

Hope this helped you make a wise decision!

Should I take aerospace engineering at IIST or ECE at MNNIT Allahabad?

HG
Harshit Gupta Posted On : September 15th, 2020
Bachelor of Technology Degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology

In the year 2020, the ranking of IIST was #33 by NIRF for B.Tech courses. On the other hand, MNNIT Allahabad was ranked #48th by NIRF for B.Tech courses. With excellent teaching staff, IIST is the 1st space institute in Asia to offer programs in space science and technology.

Admission:

IIST:

  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 with a minimum of 75% from a recognized boardin Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
  • A valid score in JEE Advanced is required.
  • The fees for the 1st year inAerospace engineering course is Rs. 96,800.
  • The total intake of the program is 60 seats.

MNNIT Allahabad:

  • Candidate must have completed 10+2 in Science stream with a minimum 75% marks.
  • Candidate must have passed the entrance exam, i.e., JEE Main.
  • For ECE 1st year, the feeis Rs 84,666.
  • The general cut off for home state students ranged from 3600 to 7128 and for other state students it is from 4615 to 6752.

Placements

  • In IIST:
    • Top recruitersare TCS, Adobe, Wipro, Mercedes Benz (India) Limited, Philips, Intel, Bosch, Cypress, UTC Aerospace Systems, etc.
    • The highest salary offered to the student of the institution was INR 10 LPA.
  • In MNNIT Allahabad:
    • 90.63% was the placement rate of MNNIT Allahabad for theECE department.
    • Some of the top recruitersof MNNIT Allahabad are the Indian Navy, Dell, Canon, BHEL, E-bay, Adobe, Bharat Institute of Technology, etc.
    • The highest salary offered to the students is INR 25.33 LPA and the average salary offered to the students is INR 10.95 LPA.

Choosing the subject depends on the individual itself. IISR will be really good if the candidate is very much interested in space and technology, as the institute primarily focuses only on space studies. Being a part of the 1st institute in the world to offer complete range of programs in space and technology will be plus point. Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was the former Chancellor of the University. The city life of Kerala is much better than Allahabad. Now, based on all the data and their interest the candidate can choose the subject and institute accordingly.

Which is a better option: MNNIT or MNIT or IIIT Allahabad(IT/CSE)?

RV
Rakshita Vardhan Posted On : April 29th, 2021
Studied CSE at MNIT

When choosing between several institutes, there are various things that you need to factor in before arriving at any possible conclusion. The first thing you need to decide is what matters to you most: branch or institute. If you have a specific branch in mind, you can definitely choose either of these two institutes. You can rest assured about placement as both of these two offer good placement to the students.

Whereas, if you are more inclined towards choosing a better institute, irrespective of the branch, you can choose MNNIT.

However, according to various reviews, the most preferred order for these choices among students are as follows.

  • CSE MNNIT
  • IT MNNIT
  • IT IIIT-A
  • CSE/IT MNIT

Further, CSE and IT offer almost the same opportunities, and points 2 and 3 are interchangeable at times.
