What has more value, an IPM from IIM Indore or a BBA from some reputed college and then an MBA from some top IIM?

FS
Farah Shah Posted On : January 12th, 2023
Studies Integrated Programme in Management, IIM Indore (Expected 2024)

First, keep in mind that you're looking for a program that will help you develop your entire personality while also giving you access to cutting-edge amenities and facilities and an assured MBA from one of the best B schools in the nation. The IPM course offered by IIM Indore is ideal for you if this is what you're looking for.

If, however, you are solely interested in a BBA program and are confident that you can enter IIM ABC after BBA despite the competition from roughly 2 lakh engineers, then go for it.

However, if you choose to do so, you also have the choice to leave the IPM after receiving your undergraduate degree and enroll in a better business school to complete your MBA. Therefore, if you must choose between the two, it is advised that you go with the first because it will give you better exposure, a more competitive environment, better amenities, and a rare opportunity to graduate from an IIM that is among the top 5 in the nation.

What will my life be like in 10 years if I get an MBA in marketing or finance from SIBM/SIIB, Pune?

RP
Rishabh Pathak Posted On : June 8th, 2021
MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune (2017)

By understanding the perspective of your question, there shall not be a huge change if you only get an MBA done. The thing that determines it is the choices you are going to make like the firm you choose to work in, your expected salary or location or role, the work environment, and various other choices.

In 10 years, if you continue working hard, then you will probably have made 2 or 5 years of promotion. You can also simultaneously expect a major salary hike.

However, considering several drawbacks such as home loans, personal expenses, family expenditure, annual vacations, and fee structure of institutions, you are expected to live a very grounded life.

  1. You should be sure enough about what you are passionate about during pursuing MBA.
  2. Join a job sector that can lead you to a good state.
  3. If necessary, you should also build an alternate income for other essential factors.
  4. You should also begin pro-bono consulting during the weekends.
  5. You can also consult a startup or can choose to become a mentor or adviser or helper too.

Thus, your life 10 years from now will not however result only if you particularly get an MBA from a B-school, but will take into account the choices you have made, and the hard work you were to undertake.

Can the MBA specialization be changed at SPJIMR after the first year?

JJ
Jason Jose Posted On : March 13th, 2023
Studied at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR)

Yes, it is possible to change your MBA specialization at SPJIMR after the first year, but it is not a common occurrence. However, if you are looking to switch from Marketing to Finance, it is highly improbable but still possible to convince the management.

It's important to keep in mind that Finance is a specialization that requires a basic background in financial knowledge, which is not always the case for Marketing. This means that changing from Marketing to Finance may be harder for the management to accept than the other way around. It's also important to note that some students have been rejected when requesting to change their specialization.

If you have a financial background, it's possible that you initially tried to get into the finance specialization at SPJIMR but were accepted for your second preference of Marketing. If this is the case, it may be difficult to convince the management to switch your specialization in the second year. However, if you excel in finance subjects in the first year, it may be possible to convince them otherwise.

Poornima University (PU) is one of the best colleges to pursue an MBA degree. The learning environment at PU is really good and engaging. They have a well-structured course that meets current industry needs.

There are a couple of things that make PUs MBA program different from others:

  • PU provides the best Industrial exposure.
  • The students get the opportunity to meet industry leaders, experts, entrepreneurs, etc. at the very beginning of their career.
  • MBA students here also have the opportunity of earning foreign internship opportunities.
  • This helps in broadening their scope and skill sets as well as improve their employability.
  • Soft skills are essential for a career in business management.
  • Most of the MBA graduates develop these skills during their job. PU students learn these skills early on.
  • They express their ideas effectively in dynamic business environments

Overall, PU has good faculty, infrastructure, facilities, a training and placement cell, etc. So PU is definitely a good choice for an  MBA.
