Can I get into IIM Trichy with a CGPA between 6.5-7.00?

KK
Koteshwar Kolluri Posted On : January 13th, 2023
studied PGDM Marketing at Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2017)

Past academics are one of the many criteria for admission to IIM Trichy. It has a certain weightage but not more than a CAT score. So if you think you have a low CGPA, you should target a very high CAT percentile, something above 98. You can also prepare well for the interviews beforehand to compensate for your low undergraduate scores. One important thing to keep in mind is when asked during the interview the reason behind your low scores, you should have a viable and reasonable answer. Then they might overlook your UG scores and focus on other parameters instead

What CAT percentile do I need to score in order to have a healthy chance of converting IIM Calcutta? My profile is 9.8/83/8.3 (GEM fresher).

MBA from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (Graduated 2019)

There is no specific percentile that will get you into IIM Calcutta. But if you want to stay on the safer side you meet to score at least 99.65-99.70+ in CAT. The minimum cutoff required for the general category remained 85 percentile, however, the actual cutoff to get a call remained much higher i.e around 98-99 percentile.

For the final selection, 4 parameters are considered:

  1. CAT score (weightage 30)

  2. Personal Interview (weightage 48)

  3. Point awarded for Academic Diversity at Bachelor’s level for Non- Engineering degree (weightage 4)

  4. Work Experience (weightage 8)

Since you are a fresher you need to work hard for the Personal Interview as it carries the highest weightage.

Can I get into the PGDIE course of NITIE if I have a 52.2% in my 12th and 8.2 CGPA in my BE mechanical?

AB
Aritra Banerjee Posted On : March 31st, 2022
PGDIE from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2017)

As your 12th percentage is below 60%, you will face difficulty in getting a shortlist. NITIE selection criteria assign certain weightage to 10th and 12th scores. So, even if you get shortlisted for the GD/PI round, your 12th percentage will bring down your overall score. A person with similar GD-PI performance and a higher 12th percentage is more likely to get preference for admission.

During the Summer internship shortlist, most recruiters usually give weightage to the 12th score. There are recruiters who don’t assign weightage to 10th and 12th scores but these are fewer in number.

My academic scores 10th in 56% and 12th in 74.5% and complete CA. Am I eligible for IIM Ahmedabad MBA?

Syed Yusuf Ashraf Posted On : May 8th, 2023

The two-year Post-graduate Programme in Management (PGP) at IIM Ahmedabad is a full-time residential course for graduates of all disciplines who desire to pursue a management career.

Seeing the eligibility criteria which state that you must have a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (this is relaxed to 45% for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates).

Therefore, you are qualified for IIM A.

IIM A and B give so much importance to past academics that applicants with comparable academic credentials are rarely even called. There are, however, students who gain admission to these colleges due to an exceptional Profile or CAT score.

With 84% in 10th, 79% in 12th, a 7.89 CGPA and 3 yrs of work experience, am I eligible for the IIM Shillong and IIM Udaipur? I am a GEM.

RS
Rishabh Singhal Posted On : July 13th, 2021
B.Com from Shaheed Bhagat Singh college, Delhi University (2018)

You are eligible for both IIMs. Your academics, on the other hand, are mediocre, which can work against you.

IIM Udaipur will contact you solely on the basis of your CAT score. IIM Shillong, on the other hand, may or may not. IIM-S has stringent admission requirements.

My only piece of advice is to ignore everything else and concentrate on getting a high CAT percentile, preferably above 99.5, and you'll almost certainly get into one of the IIMs.

With a balanced sectional and good percentile in CAT, you should get calls from both these institutes. Also, prepare well for the interview. The interview part of admission is the most difficult, so try to be confident as much as you can.

If you are confident that you will get a great percentile in CAT, you can also apply for FMS.
