Which is better: BITS Pilani Hyd mechanical or VIT Vellore CS?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : June 28th, 2023

Rather than focusing on the institutes, it’s best to give importance to your branch. I know a friend who gave up on BITS Hyderabad Mechanical production for core Mechanical at VIT. When I asked her the reason she told me that for her it was the branch that mattered more and VIT offered the branch of her choice.

So I will advise you to do the same. Analyze where your interests lie and choose the institute accordingly.

The average package offered to a civil engineer at IIT Bombay depends on a multitude of factors like a student's academic performance, relevant work experience, skills, and the current job market demand.

According to IIT Bombay Placements reports of 2023, the average package offered to civil engineering graduates from IIT Bombay stood at INR 17.9 LPA. However, this is only an estimate and does not rightly portray the current job market scenario. The actual package offered to Civil Engineering students might be higher or lower than this average.

Which institute should I take for the CS branch, Jaypee, Noida, or NIT Goa?

JC
Jiya Chadda Posted On : August 25th, 2021
Studies CSE at NIT Warangal, 2023

It depends upon what you think you will pursue as a career. Generally, there are transparent ways into monitoring whether or not an institute is really worthy, at least when considering the CSE department.

  • If you are more inclined towards pursuing a career as a computer programmer, then here are some websites you should definitely check out: CodeChef, HackerRank and CodeForces.
  • These competitions apparently gauge the programming skills a person generally comes with, and whether or not they will be successful in relevant aspects.
  • These websites come with a neat leaderboard, including the ranks of coders assessed accordingly in terms of their programming skills.
  • The major upside of these sites is that the leaderboard arrives with the name of the institute these coders belong from.
  • This naturally helps to evaluate how reasonable an institute is.
  • You can moreover filter the leaderboards in accordance to the institute you prefer.
Categories CSE at Jaypee Noida CSE at NIT Goa
Course Fee 9.22 lakh 5.38 akh
Highest CTC 20 LPA 14 LPA
Average CTC 10 LPA 7 PA
Recruiting Companies Adobe, Accenture, Cognizant, KPMG, etc. Capgemini, Oracle, Wipro, IBM, etc.

Therefore, these features go on to provide more compact comparisons among institutes and can possibly help you decide which institute is worthy. However, it is best to also research more about the prospects each institute shares; and how they are in terms of placement, faculty, etc.

What is the minimum percentile for making it to HRM in XLRI (not for getting a call?)

GS
Gaurav Sharma Posted On : April 22nd, 2023
studied at Xavier School of Management

XLRI Jamshedpur is one of the premier management institutes in India, known for its two-year postgraduate management programs - PGDM (Business Management) and PGDM (Human Resource Management).

XLRI accepts scores from multiple entrance exams such as XAT, GMAT, and GRE for admission into its programs. The admission process includes two stages - the first stage involves shortlisting candidates based on their entrance exam scores and profile, and the second stage comprises a written ability test (WAT), group discussion (GD), and personal interview (PI) rounds.

To make it to the HRM program at XLRI, one needs to clear the first stage of the selection process, which involves obtaining a minimum percentile in the entrance exam. The minimum percentile required for the HRM program at XLRI varies each year and depends on various factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the overall performance of the test-takers.

However, based on previous years' trends, candidates generally need to score above 90 percentile in XAT to get shortlisted for XLRI's HRM program. It is important to note that clearing the minimum percentile requirement does not guarantee admission to the program, as the final selection also considers the candidate's profile, work experience, academic performance, and performance in the WAT/GD/PI rounds.

In summary, the minimum percentile required for making it to XLRI's HRM program varies each year and depends on the number of applicants and the overall performance in the entrance exam. Candidates generally need to score above 90 percentile in XAT to get shortlisted for the HRM program.

What is it like to study at NERIST?

AD
Ashmita Doli Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Studied at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology

My brother recently graduated from the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST).

The institute has a great blend of diversity, unlike any other institutes in India. 90% of the seats are for the eight north-eastern states with an equal number of seats. 10% of the reserved seats are for the all-India quota. You will get to learn about different cultures and lifestyles.

The infrastructure of the institute is great. There are hostels, lecture centers, laboratory facilities, auditorium, convenience store, canteen, medical facilities available on campus.

Apart from the cultural aspect, the college fee is low, and the professors are graduates from top IITs and NITs. It gives an edge to NERIST over other institutes.

I have scored 86 marks in JEE and 86.4% in boards is there any chance of getting IT in Heritage institute of technology?

MS
Madhurima Sen Posted On : September 9th, 2021
B.Tech in Information Technology from Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata in 2020

Before making a decision on what college you want to get admitted to there are some factors that must be kept in mind: the quality of academics and faculty, extra-curricular activities, the record of recent placements.

  1. In the Heritage Institute of Technology, the head of the department barely ever engaged in any interaction with the students and never had a say in any matter.
  2. The quality of the faculty members is not good. There are exceptions but most of them lack knowledge so they are of not much help.
  3. No events involving extra-curricular activities take place on the campus.
  4. Talking about the placements, the average salary package is only around INR 3-4 LPA. Companies like Wipro and TCS visit the campus but the job roles offered are not good.

There are far better options such as IEM and Techno India. Heritage is an overhyped institute. Also, look for institutes that are not in Kolkata if you want better exposure.
